Yeah, I liked it that way - while PCs are currently mostly viewed as "better visuals/modding" game boxes, it was all about different experiences and genres back in those days, as they were continuation of different home computers people gamed on from 70s onward.

Yeah nowadays a PS5 or an Xbox Series is basically a PC in a closed box, whereas if you go back even to the 7th gen consoles and PCs were quite different beasts, and go back further to the 80s they were even more distinct.

Nowadays I would say there's not a great deal of use in having both an Xbox Series X and a gaming PC, compared to say a Switch 2 and PC or a PS5 and a Steam Deck.
