Forums - Sales - Week 35 [8.24.2026 - 8.30.2026] • Famitsu (JP) Official Sales Thread

Hello all. With an interest in centralizing discussion to a single thread (instead of being dispersed across hundreds of weekly threads), I have decided to create this thread. Every Thursday, users from the site are welcome to share the Famitsu sales data for the week via responding to this thread. The OP of this thread will be updated every week as well, featuring the Top 10 list (later to be updated with the Top 30) and a list of YoY weekly data comparisons for the Nintendo Switch 1+2 and PlayStation 5.

Well done. In fact, I don't know how no one hadn't come up with a main thread for the Famitsu's sales data yet

this is the way

I'm happy to see people liking this new format. :) Appreciate the support. After Famitsu completely slipped my mind this morning, I decided that from now on, I'll leave it up to you guys to post the Famitsu data. My role will simple be to (i) update the OPs of the thread and (ii) (for homogeneity/archiving sake) repost OP contents as an individual post in the thread. That way you won't need to be searching for an entirely different thread each time you want to reference data.

I really dislike this idea, it's just gonna lead to each weekly sales data getting less discussion which isn't ideal when site activity is already low. There's a reason Installbase has an individual thread for each week instead of just a single megathread for all of it so I suggest reconsidering this idea. Having a general Japanese sales data megathread could be nice but the weekly threads should definitely continue.

For this weeks data the Switch 2 is a higher than last week but only by a bit so good thing Fortune's Weave is near and the Switch 1 is had a relatively ok week. Also the PS5 has been down YoY two weeks in a row now so it might be running out of steam some.

Oh I thought the intent was to just have a single thread and no more individual ones but your intent is what I said at the end of the first paragraph so never mind lol. This works then.

Edit: I misinterpreted that post, the intent wasn't what I said there so double never mind.

It has always been weekly threads for every forum to maximize engagement. I suggest keeping up with the weekly threads. No problem if you forget sometimes.

I hear your concerns. Let's just try it for a few weeks and see how things work. I anticipate those who usually engage with these Famitsu forums will act as usual, and new people will join along just as they would in the "Club Nintendo" or "Road to 160M NSW" forums.

Shifting focus over to sales... maybe I just haven't been paying attention these past few weeks, but Switch 1 has been doing pretty well for a period of slow hardware sales. Outselling PS5 and almost hitting half of NS2's figures.
