Forums - Sales - Famitsu Sales: Week 23, 2026 (May 25 - May 31)

That seems pretty decent for Switch 2, it just had a price hike and sold 700k the previous month, so it seems short term demand isn't entirely fulfilled. The Nintendo direct next week should help as well, there is a history of Nintendo directs leading to higher console sales in Japan.

It seems Sony made a price cut on PS5 to spare them from total sales humiliation in Japan this year, because even with the PS5 being cheaper than Switch 2 in Japan now, they are still just doing sub 9k weeks, imagine how little they would sell if the PS5 cost 70k+ yen as it did before the price cut there, they would have like 2-3k sales per week on that price point.

That's a huge cliff!!

Switch 2 drops massively to its lowest sales week of its life so far. Only one other week had sales in the 30k range and that was when it was still pretty young library-wise. Hopefully its baseline settles in the 40k - 50k range.

And every Switch 1 model needs to be offered with a free download, period... even if its only one of the usual suspects (NSMB, MK8, etc).

The fabled Switch cliff actually hit the Switch 2, lol.  It makes sense though, since most of the people who wanted a Switch 2 got one sometime during the past month or so.

Tomodachi is still going strong in spite of low hardware sales for both Switch and Switch 2.

31k is actually a pretty solid number

Eventually, yes, 30k.
Damn, NS1 just lost its stronghold.
Screw Price hike, it made it less attractive it seems, that's more probable than stock issues now.
What's apparent is that it won't return to 20k,not even 15k, at least before November.

There really isn't a cliff here, what people should remember is that Switch 2 had an artificially high May due to the looming price increase, which led to around 700k Switch 2 sales happening during May, that should have moved a lot of the short term Switch 2 demand forward, i.e. Most Japanese that thought about buying Switch 2 in the near future already picked it up before the price hike, which led to Switch 2 having like 2-3 months of sales during May in Japan.

I'm more impressed that they still had a 30k+ week even though they recently sold 700k Switch 2 consoles in Japan.

Honestly... i was expecting in low 20k for switch 2 since it's the following week of a price hike, no major games to build up either. The console sold SO much in the last few weeks that it will make up for the lower baseline. Summer is always slower in sales too, so to me if it has a 30k baseline until splatoon i think it's still pretty great.

The SW2 price in Japan isn't $500...it's roughly $375 usd now up around 50 dollars from $325 for the japanese only model. The multilingual model is still roughly 450$. The sharp decrease in sales number is being overexaggerated. A lot of Japanese people bought the SW2 before the price increase they sold over 700k+ in the month of may alone...that coupled with low stock led the 30k+ sales for the past week. I do expect sales numbers to increase next week but not to normal SW2 for a bit.

Firsts time I have seen an Xbox model sell more than a PS or Nintendo model
