Forums - Sales - GTA 4 selling better on PS3 than 360

Contrary to what many expected, it seems as though the PlayStation 3 version is selling more than the Xbox 360 version at certain large retailers. UK retailer ASDA is reporting that the PS3 version is selling three times more than its rival - the Xbox 360. Over in Australia, EB Games is reporting that while their pre-sales figures show both versions selling fairly close, the PS3 version is in the lead. Another retailer in that country, Gametraders, is saying the PS3 version is selling double than the Xbox 360.

Yes, the PS3 version is gonna win in Europe. Here in Finland I've heard it's 60% for PS3 version and 40% for 360. But GTA's biggest market US will make sure 360 version wins in WW sales.

I don't bother listing my last-gen games (PS2, Xbox, GC) to my collection cause there's too many of them. ;)

NA will still help the 360 outsell the PS3 , i'm thinking anywhere between a 1.5-1.75:1 Sales ratio XBOX:PS3

The 360's usebase alone is enough reson for it to outsell the PS3 version.

But like it's been said before I believe that GTA will have a better effect on PS3 hardware than 360.

We have had this before

Isn't it a bit early to say stuff like this? Even if all the info from a few stores is correct, different stores might have different ratios of the two versions available.

as i said before, SONY will ship more consoles than MS but after all will be a loss for them. The reason is that in the PS2 era SONY was playing alone with San Andreas release...

The majority of GTA's sales do happen in the US, yes, but Europe gets about 40% of the overall sales (Japan getting nearly nothing) so Europe's numbers are fairly important as well.

At the moment, though, the US has a lot more current gen consoles than Europe. This is mostly due to the 360 selling well only in the US. At launch, the sales might be a little more skewed toward the US.

360 will still have more overall probably. If this game was big in Japan, it might be a different story.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S.
