Here is an extract from Nintendo's Semi-Annual Financial Results Briefing, held on October 26th, 2007.

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/071026/index.html

"We have gathered data provided by independent research companies in the UK, France, Germany and Spain and made this comparison of portable video game hardware sales during January-September periods from 2005 to 2007. These four countries represent 75% to 80% of the total European market. So, by referring to the data in these four countries, I would like to discuss the situation in Europe today."

The first group of charts show hardware sales transitions in Europe.
Source = Chart Track(UK), GfK(France), GFK/Media Control(Germany), AC Nielsen(Spain)

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/071026/img/slide21.jpg

"Based upon data from the main European countries, this chart compares portable hardware sales this year with last year."

The second group of charts show weekly hardware sales in Europe.

1. It seems that Nintendo does not have European data other than the sources they have listed.
2. To cover the whole of Europe, Nintendo could have extrapolated the data they gathered.

For BKK2:

http://www.golem.de/0804/59315.html

Sony says 500k ps3 in Germany at the end of march 2008, and 40k ps3 for march 2008.

With the graphs, you said 39 k in march, so why not.

But 500k instead of 400k, here there is a problem.

crho,

As I pointed out earlier in the thread that they previously used these countries (although they ommited Spain from the weekly graph). However, after checking the figures for France, Germany, and UK against the European graph the difference is just way too much for Spain to make up on it's own. On this occasion they are using more countries, but they don't specify which ones.

Lombardo, no problem at all. The 500k is shipped (sold to retailers). The 400k is sold to consumers.

Way to troll buddy.  Did you even bother listening to the presentation?

The whole point was that the DS went through the same thing at first, because third-parties are slower to figure out what to do on the system in Japan, so the fact that the same happens to the Wii is actually normal.

double you tee eff mate?

You're throwing the "troll"  tag around a little bit quickly there, DKII. This seems to be an epidemic around here, but I'd say that you're one of the biggest offenders. Care to explain how my original post in any way could possibly be construed as trolling?

Not to disparage you because I usually agree with most of what you say, but you're just throwing random shit at the wall and hoping it stick. You seem to be under the impression that I believe the Wii is in trouble because of Japan's third party sales. Or that I believe the situation won't get better. Nothing could be further from the truth. The only point Iam making is that FishyJoe was guilty of what was in his signature, that is, "Cherry Picking". His point was that "third parties do sell on Wii" and proves his point by showing the third party:first party ratios in the two best cases while ignoring the rather dramatic difference in the final case. This is cherry picking exactly in line with his signature.

No, I didn't listen to the presentation. I don't believe FishyJoe was mentioned in it. Get a grip, The red text that your username is rendered in gives you a certain amount of responsibility, and you're not showing that you deserve it.
