Forums - Politics - "Operation Epstein Fury" - US and Israel Unprovoked invasion of Iran

Death toll from Israeli strikes on lebanon today is now up to 254 killed, 1,165 wounded. Just another massive war crime.

And yep, Ishafan, central Iran is reporting explosions.

The White House is already busy rewriting the ceasefire agreement

White House says Iran put forth two proposals: one "unserious," one "workable"

The White House sought to offer clarity on what the US and Iran have already agreed to, suggesting that after a first plan was deemed “unserious,” a second proposal was viewed as a “workable” starting point for intense negotiations set to begin this weekend.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Wednesday that Iran has assured the White House that it is allowing traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, despite reports of Tehran once again closing the waterway.

While Iran says it as it is

Iran’s Araghchi says ceasefire terms are “clear,” urges US to choose between truce and “continued war via Israel”

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said the terms of the two-week Iran–US ceasefire are “clear and explicit,” arguing that Washington must choose between upholding a ceasefire or pursuing what he described as “continued war via Israel.”

He also referenced the situation in Lebanon, writing: “The world sees the massacres in Lebanon.” “The ball is in the U.S. court, and the world is watching whether it will act on its commitments,” Araghchi added.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned it will respond if “aggressions” against Lebanon do not immediately cease, state broadcaster IRIB reported earlier today.

In the Situation Room on Feb. 11, Mr. Netanyahu made a hard sell, suggesting that Iran was ripe for regime change and expressing the belief that a joint U.S.-Israeli mission could finally bring an end to the Islamic Republic.

At one point, the Israelis played for Mr. Trump a brief video that included a montage of potential new leaders who could take over the country if the hard-line government fell. Among those featured was Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran’s last shah, now a Washington-based dissident who had tried to position himself as a secular leader who could shepherd Iran toward a post-theocratic government.

Mr. Netanyahu and his team outlined conditions they portrayed as pointing to near-certain victory: Iran’s ballistic missile program could be destroyed in a few weeks. The regime would be so weakened that it could not choke off the Strait of Hormuz, and the likelihood that Iran would land blows against U.S. interests in neighboring countries was assessed as minimal.

Besides, Mossad’s intelligence indicated that street protests inside Iran would begin again and — with the impetus of the Israeli spy agency helping to foment riots and rebellion — an intense bombing campaign could foster the conditions for the Iranian opposition to overthrow the regime. The Israelis also raised the prospect of Iranian Kurdish fighters crossing the border from Iraq to open a ground front in the northwest, further stretching the regime’s forces and accelerating its collapse.

...

Everyone deferred to the president’s instincts. They had seen him make bold decisions, take on unfathomable risks and somehow come out on top. No one would impede him now.

If you surround yourself with yes men, this is what you get. At least Vance appears to have been against this war so if Trump is impeached things could get a little bit better. Hegseth must go.

Man, Rutte is always so deep in Trump's ass even after Trump leaking his personal messages where we already saw how deep he's in his butt.

It's always poor Trump who's his true friend and only the other NATO countries are to blame for the relationship falling apart

He's single, no kids, hanging on to Trump. He was the leader of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy in The Netherlands before going to Nato, centre-right, conservative-liberal political party, formerly VVD. All about business first. So yeah he would be the one boot licking Trump the business man.

In a post on Truth Social after the meeting, Trump wrote: “NATO WASN’T THERE WHEN WE NEEDED THEM, AND THEY WON’T BE THERE IF WE NEED THEM AGAIN. REMEMBER GREENLAND, THAT BIG, POORLY RUN, PIECE OF ICE!!!” Trump had said earlier this week that his latest frustrations with the alliance “began” with their opposition to his desired takeover of Greenland.

Is Trump suggesting Nato has to back him up when he invades Greenland?!

Over 125,000 civilian sites damaged in US-Israeli attacks: Red Crescent

Pirhossein Kolivand, head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, said a total of 125,630 civilian units have been hit across the country in US-Israeli attacks on Iran, IRNA news agency reports.

According to Kolivand, 23,500 of the damaged sites are commercial centres and places of business, while 339 are medical facilities, including hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, health centres and emergency rooms.

Independent American journalist Ahmad Saadaldin of Prop&Co and Canada's Dimitri Lascaris of Reason2Resist join The Grayzone's Max Blumenthal to detail their reporting from the ground in Iran.

In this discussion, Ahmad and Dimitri recount their visit to Minab, the town where the US military bombed a girl's school and killed 170 civilians in one of the worst American war crimes in recent history. Through their investigation of the site, they learned that there were no military targets in the area, shattering US propaganda.

Talks in Pakistan today, maybe. Israel is still pounding Lebanon so I doubt much will come from it. Strait remains mostly closed or rather ships aren't risking it. Mostly Iranian ships are getting through, while the latest damage assessments show reduced capacity for pipelines (to the red Sea) and oil/gas production in the gulf states. It's going to be a long crisis.

WHO: 13 hospitals damaged and 6 closed since Israel is bombing the Lebanon. They also face a severe shortage on medical supplies now. Next will be a shortage on food and water I guess.

But who cares, right? As long as Israel is bombing humans it's fine. And the only country speaking against it (Spain) just got thrown out of the "Gaza mission after war" by Israel. Because in the end Israel doesn't care about any diplomatic agreement. Their diplomacy is "bow down to us"

Yep and looking at all the threats Trump is issuing even before the talks have started, Iran is right not to call this a ceasefire. It's a temporary pause for whatever stupid plan Trump has next, probably with the 50K soldiers he moved towards Iran.

And Pakistan better be on the look out for Mossad assassination attempts.

Trump says Iranians "have no cards" ahead of negotiations

“The Iranians don’t seem to realize they have no cards, other than a short term extortion of the World by using International Waterways,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “The only reason they are alive today is to negotiate!”

Trump warns Iran that US assault will intensify if deal not reached

President Donald Trump warned Iran that if a peace deal isn’t reached, the United States will resume its military action with even more intensity, saying, “We have a reset going.”

“We’re loading up the ships with the best ammunition, the best weapons ever made — even better than what we did previously and we blew them apart,” Trump told the New York Post in a Friday phone interview, going on to say the US would be “using them very effectively” if there’s no deal.

As Vice President JD Vance heads to Pakistan to lead talks with the Iranians, Trump said the next 24 hours would reveal whether the talks will be successful. “We’re going to find out in about 24 hours. We’re going to know soon,” Trump said.

Ceasefire talks can only begin after two conditions are met, senior Iranian official says

Negotiations with the United States cannot begin until Washington meets two key conditions, according to Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who some Iranian outlets say is expected to lead Tehran’s delegation during weekend talks in Pakistan.

In a post on X, Ghalibaf said a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran’s blocked assets must be fulfilled before negotiations can begin.

Two of the measures mutually agreed upon between the parties have yet to be implemented: a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran’s blocked assets prior to the commencement of negotiations. These two matters must be fulfilled before negotiations begin.”

And the Lebanon ceasefire is very much on the backburner

Ambassadors from Israel, Lebanon and US will hold preparatory talks today

Ambassadors from Israel, Lebanon and the US will hold a first round of preparatory talks in Washington, DC, today to set the table for future negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, an Israeli official and source familiar with the talks said.

The first round of discussions will be aimed at reaching an agreement on the conditions and agenda for direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, which Israel has said would be aimed at disarming Hezbollah and establishing “peaceful relations” between the two countries.

Lebanon says death toll from Israel’s Wednesday attacks at 357

Lebanon’s Health Ministry has released an updated death toll from Israel’s Wednesday attacks, which were the fiercest in years, saying the figure has now reached 357.

“This figure remains non-final due to ongoing rubble removal operations and the presence of a very large number of remains, which require time to complete DNA testing and confirm the identities of the victims,” reported Lebanon’s National News Agency, citing the Health Ministry.

These casualties bring the total number of people killed since Israel intensified attacks on Lebanon on March 2 to 1,953, with 6,303 injured, according to the ministry.

Temporary? This is only the beginning

Inflation in US surges as the continued fallout from war felt globally

US inflation surged to a two-year high in March as the war in Iran sent energy prices sharply higher. The Consumer Price Index, which measures what Americans pay for everyday goods and services, rose 3.3% year-on-year, up from 2.4% in February.

Fuel prices jumped 21% in a single month, the biggest such rise since 1967, pushing the average gallon to $4.15, roughly 40% above pre-war levels. The White House called the disruption temporary, but economists warned food prices are set to further rise in April.

Europe could face jet fuel shortages in three weeks, industry body warns

Europe could face systemic jet fuel shortages if the Strait of Hormuz doesn’t reopen in a “significant and stable way” within the next three weeks, a group representing the airport industry has warned.

The Airports Council International Europe (ACI) – which represents over 600 airports across the continent – called for the EU to take immediate measures to avoid such a scenario in a letter to the European Commission yesterday, which was obtained by CNN today.

It's Gaza all over again. Until Israel is actually held accountable for their actions, they'll just keep repeating them. They use the Holocaust as a shield from criticism while inflicting the same type of horrors on others. It's absolutely shameful.
