Great to hear that the PS3's components are continuing to be made cheaper and smaller! This will help when the PS3 slim is released :D

That point would be valid if Sony made an os, but they don't. Several company's however make OS'es and they are way better at it and deliver a safer product then MS.


They have made an Operating system for the PS3. As Microsoft has made an Operating System for the 360. The 360 has some design features the PS3 lacks (ingame XMB) and the 360 OS seems to use less RAM so I think its fair to say it has the better foundation. On the other hand the XMB looks much much better than the orange/green/purple mess that is the 360.

Why would they do that? It would take R&D costs, they have no need to drop price anytime soon, and can't make the console any smaller, as it is already tiny as hell. I guess they could try, but I dont see a purpose in it.

That's a joke right? Of course they'll do it if allows them to reduce the production cost... No matter whether they cut the price or not, they'll make more profit by reducing costs.

^b/c is so small and cheap already makes me wonder...... if they were they could keep up the same level of profit that they are now but knock off some cash like next year and still maintain the high volume of sales

Nintendo has been using a strategy of older hardware, and with today's small chips, the Wii probably wouldn't need much of a heatsink at all.

Also, that is good and all that Sony is willing to put more into it's hardware, I guess that means that Sony seems positive about the LT prospects of the PS3, but its no big thing b /c Microsoft can add the same heatsinks anytime that they want, and heck, w/ the 360's RROD problem, the 360 probably has 10th generation heatsinks

Is Furukawa Electric owned by Sony??

Did Sony engineers develop the heatsink for Furukawa?

I have no doubts that Sony had a hand in pushing the company towards lowering costs, but giving Sony praise for something it didn't develop is not really needed.
