RE9 is going to be the game to beat this year, and i won't write off Fable either

Updated to this point. Keep ‘em coming!

This year's been red hot so far. Lots of variety, lots of quality, and even some ground-shaking releases like RE9 and Pokopia. I'm hoping Demon Tides gets a nomination. I haven't played the game personally (and do not plan on doing so... I don't want to spoil my appetite for Bubsy 4D), but the gameplay leaves me salivating! An open-world, stylish platformer... oh man it looks so good.

There are definitely a lot of games to play, and it's only been 2.5 months 0_0

Any games on that list you'd personally recommend as a GotY contender?

So far? Requiem. But it's GTA 6's to win or lose. It will decide everything.

Only games I’ve played this year are NSMBWii, SM64: Star Road, MP4Beyond, and SMB3 (NES)… so I’ve got nothing so far.

Mario Bros Wonder DLC is next weekend, then onward to Darwin’s Paradox. I’m really thinking Darwin could be a strong contender, but we’ll just have to wait and see I suppose. Yoshi and Bubsy are also on my radar.

I figured I'd get this up early, even though I expect not a lot of folks have played a GOTY contender 18 days into the new year

I already have a strong contender: Resident Evil Requiem. Anything else that comes out this year would have to be really amazing to top it, and I don't see that happening.

Genuinely curious on why you feel that way. Just finished Requiem and really enjoyed it, but it didn't blow me away to the point I don't think it could be topped. For me it may be a GOTY winner in a relatively mediocre year of gaming.

If somebody likes a game, why trigger a debate on how the game is actually not as good as they think? Just let them glaze their game in peace lol.

I'd honestly also be surprised if anything this year tops Requiem for me.

It was just the complete package; great blend of classic survival horror and RE4-style action horror, satisfying combat, looked and ran great, tons of B-movie charm, stayed true to the franchise's past without feeling slavishly limited by it, just a great game from top to bottom.
