Which is more worth the sale?

Dragon Quest III HD2D 10 52.63%

FF Pixel Remaster Collection 9 47.37%

Total:19

Damn, I think this has made me more confused now since several are saying FF pixel remaster has several of the greatest JRPGs, yet are still saying they’d pick DQIII remake lol. Can anyone answer if the DQIII remake has heavy vibes of DQ11, despite being a 2D one? I love that game so much.

FF Pixel Remaster so easily. Just for value alone, it's 6 games vs 1 game. And in terms of the actual games, FF6 itself is enough to make me pick FF.

DQ games are deceptively dark much of the time. DQIII is the beginning of a Trilogy. There is a reason they put 3HD out first then 1-2. Story reasons. I don't think I can compare DQIII to XI even tho XI is also my fave in the series. III is one of the best tho of the classic games.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

If you look at the value proposition, it's 6 games (with varying qualities) vs a single one but that later was remade into a great game that I much prefer than most games in the FF collection(except FF VI).

Btb, I do not vibe with the way most characters look in the FF remaster.

Nothing wrong with playing it that way either. I just prefer the SNES graphics and the way that CRT Phosphors make things look. Just felt like pointing out that there's a third, cooler, much more expensive option. Also, all you would really need is a $80 SNES, $50 multicart,  $10 S-Video Cable, and $40 CRT that takes S-Video. The PVM, modwork, and scart cables only really give you a 30% boost in graphics output.

You mean, like how Steam allows Denuvo and other anti-consumer ways for publishers to force online-only play for something you paid good money for? Steam could have allowed the sale of used digital games ages ago. They just won't.

Edit: By online-only I mean the periodic Denuvo check-in. If you stay offline long enough you lose access to your game. How long that is depends on the publisher. Anyway, once servers go down you can't play it.

Lol yeah I knew what you mean. Denuvo is available across the board though. It's been on PS5 since 2021 and Switch since 2023. I imagine Switch 2 support is coming soon. Nobody really talks about console implementation of it though since Denuvo is made available in offline mode as well. And since developers don't disclose it, you would never know Denuvo is there, but at least there's no periodic check-in.

Majority of my Steam library are completely playable offline though. I typically like to test them out just so I know. Biggest guilty parties in my library that utilize Denuvo are ironically the major Japanese publishers like Capcom, Sega, and Bandai Namco lol, but a lot of them remove Denuvo a year or two later after launch at least.

Would love if Steam one day starts outright selling completely DRM-free games like GOG does.

Pixel Remaster just changes too many things and doesn't have a proper scanline filter. So much of the difficulty and experience has been toned down or changed. I'm not a fan, but if people want to play it that way that's their choice. I just hope that this remake doesn't replace people's memory of the original games, because IMO FF6 Advance is way better than what you get on the pixel remaster.
