I'm currently 70 hours in to a Persona 5 Royal playthrough. That along with Megabonk is pretty much the only gaming I've been doing for the past month. Yet during this time I have purchased the following: Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, Ni No Kuni Remastered, Hogwarts Legacy, The Crew 2, Steamworld Dig 1+2, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Saints Row 3 Remastered, Story of Seasons Pioneers of Olive Town, Red Faction Geurilla Remastered, TCG Card Shop Simulator, Bioshock 2 Remastered, Two Point Campus, South Park The Fractured But Whole, Far Cry Primal, Mafia III, Zombie Army Trilogy, Star Wars Bounty Hunter, AC Rogue+Unity and Hardspace Shipbreaker.

My steam library now sits at over 1,000 owned games though I know there are others on here with much more. Equally both my Xbox and PS digital libraries are in the several hundreds.

But I know I really only average about 2-3 hours a day of gameplay, practically I know I don't have time to play all of these games and that I already own enough games to last me many many years. Yet I keep buying. OFC I'm not spending a lot of money on these games, they were basically all under £5, but even knowing there's a good chance I'll never get the chance to play and finish them I acquire them anyway.

Do you do a good job of only buying games that you will play? Or do you also acquire a huge number of games you know you are very unlikely to ever find the time to touch?

I haven't purchased as many games this generation. Naughty Dog games which we've gotten none this generation, and Mario/Zelda games are really the only day one purchases I buy. I don't have gamepass anymore, but I still have playstation plus at least for now so that keeps me stacked. I usually get 4-5 games per year and most of them around black Friday/Christmas. I used to buy way too many games, and I have plenty of Wii and PS3 games that I never opened.

No, I still have Stranger of Paradise and i havent played it.
My backlog isnt that big tho, its usually between 3-5 games, but its always there, it never goes away.

I only buy games I don't plan to play in the next few days or weeks if they are discounted

I pretty much only buy games discounted full stop.

I buy maybe one full priced title a year, if that lol.

Deus Ex:Human Revolution is an awesome game.  Definitely play that.

I try not to get too crazy with my purchases because I just don't have the time to devote to it.  That said, I have quite a backlog that I may end up never playing, just from purchasing the most games I can't pass up.

I only do this with Nintendo... and only if its a game that I know I will want to play someday soon. (There are only three games that I've done this with over the past two years: Pokémon ScVi (there was a big sale late last year, and I felt I might want to play the games once they got patched for Switch 2), Xenoblade Chronicles X (mostly to support to fanbase), and DKBananza (I'm really upset I haven't had time for this :( ).) Nintendo games never go on sale, and my appitite can be very sporadic, so might as well get it now and play later.

Any other games? I just wait until there's a sale or until I have a really strong urge to purchase. There's a reason I only own like 30 games across PS4/PS5/non-first party Nintendo.

I buy quite few games full priced, games that are heavily on social elements and multi-player like Animal Crossing and Splatoon I buy full priced. Duskbloods I plan to buy for full price

Or games that are naturally less expensive, like Expedition 33, Hades 2, Octopath Travaler 0 and Elden Ring Nightrign. Those are insta-buys

I also buy my favorite games for full price, if I can get the physical version. Fire Emblem, any Fromsoftware dark-souls-esque, Larian's RPGs, Atlus Persona and Persona-esque games, etc

There are quite few other games that I buy full priced when I don't have a big backlog to play, or when I'm not feeling short of money. Astrobot I bought it for full price

Don't tend to buy so many full priced (still around 10 this year) but buy a ton discounted around 200 this year already ^^'.

And yeah have no time for them especially JRPG's..or games that need your attention..

I've learned to refreain myself and only buy games I really want to play (free games given away are another topic), but there was a time where I bought games without knowing enough about them.that I now regret.

I've played roughly half the games I have on Steam (around 300), but if we talk about finished/completed games, that number is much lower than that.

Please excuse my bad English.
