Retailers were probably already struggling with low demand for Xbox hardware etc so knew that with a price increase the turnover would be even less and it just wouldn't be economic and profitable to carry Xbox anymore. So looks like its the end of the road for proprietary Xbox hardware or will be shortly. I'm looking forward to getting some very cheap games and maybe a cheap console. I loved the original xbox, and also was fantastically happy with the Xbox 360. The Xbox One just seemed inferior to PS4 and never bothered with the series range. If I see a Xbox Series X for 150 pounds I'll pick it up or maybe a Xbox Series S for 80 pounds. How long before I get those prices is anyone's guess, maybe a year or two. Actually I won't be getting a Series S as it hasn't got a disc drive it would have to be a Series X for me. I feel like a videogame vulture feeding off the body of another failed console. For the moment I will just stick with my Xbox One X.

In europe (denmark) I don't think that will happend anytime soon.
Like I tried "elgiganten" and found they only have the series S on their store.... no series x.
I tried Power (another big store) and they only have the series X selling there (but its out of stock, and has been for a while).
Bilka doesn't have anything xbox anymore. Punkt1 is sold out,.... you need to like google where to buy it, to find one, or use like pricerunner and look for pc part shops, that still have some and check stock levels.
Even finding a Xbox is getting hard at this point, imo.
That is when sales really drop.... out of sight, out of mind.
Whats crazy is I think in general denmark isn't that "opposed" to xbox brand and such as other places might be.
So like if its bad here, its probably worse in other parts of europe.
