Forums - Nintendo - Toys R Us: THIS SUNDAY "More Wii In-store Than Ever Before!"

Also, 2 out of 2 people I know who pre-ordered Smash are not picking up Mario kart wii until they can get it at Sams Club for $5 off, which could be a week or 2 after launch. Although this doesn't mean anything at all, I just don't think the hardcore players will rush it as much.

They can get it at costco for $6 off, so.. that's a dollar better than your crappy store.  And on launch day.

^ VERY doubtfull. IMO 1M is a bit high.

Hehe, Nintendo might win "biggest developer of the month" even for the month GTA IV launches!

(Nintendo could have made it even without this really, last month they had 5.4M with Brawl, but Brawl second month + MKWii + few days of Wii Fit could actually beat the crap outta GTA IV.

When does Brawl launch in Europe?

MKWii should appeal to a larger audience than Smash Brothers.... after all, it was already present at the SNES time when Nintendo was dominating so it should be a lot more recognizable.

Sales were very close on the gamecube. To be fair, MK:DD sold 1.93m in Europe and 4.14m in the US. This suggests that Mario Kart will be more than twice as big in the US as it was in Europe, where its first two weeks came out to over a million already.

GC was not really a heavy casual console.... what i'm saying is that on Wii, MK should go way past Brawl because the new audience will be more attracted by it (that is why the Wii wheel is there too). I wouldn't be surprised if MK did 1.5 to 2x the sales of Brawl lifetime ^^

Wait?  A racing game sold worse in Europe?  Was their a  big userbase gap or something?

"Supposedly you should be able to buy the wheel by itself the same day."

When I bought MKWii here in europe 2 weeks ago there where atleast the same amount of Wheels as there where MKWii's

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

sadly, there are no cosco's around me, or I would go there (for other things besides games), and with shipping I might as well go to any other store.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

Very interesting.  Given all of the info in this thread, 800k seems like a reasonable week 1 estimate for the US.
