Your arguing why you think the 360 should sell as well. The reason the PS3 is going to outsell the 360, is because it is outselling the 360.

PS3 is outselling the 360 by 52,000 units/week so it will take 123 weeks for the PS3 to catch up to the 6.4 million consoles its behind... NOT 66
Wrong, you say that as if for those 123 weeks the 360 doesn't sell a single console. It needs much mroe than 123 weeks to catch it, saying it sells this constant, for both the PS3 and the 360.
Check your facts.  OUTselling by 52k/week * 123 = 6.34 million which is *GASP* about the amount the PS3 needs to pass the 360!  And that's not counting the acceleration of the timetable due to increased holiday sales on both consoles, etc. (see DMeisterJ's post above)

The best way to think of it is to look at the %. The PS3 has been selling between 30-40% more then the 360. If that trend continues, the PS3 will pass the 360 before the 360 hit's 40 mil in sales. So if you think the 360 will not sell another 20 million in the next 123 weeks, then I guess your right ;)

I actually think the whole point of this thread is rather moot. 

The only question of significance is whether the PS3 will ever get a big enough lead over the 360 to stop the 360 getting exclusives it would otherwise have got, or to make games that would otherwise have been multi-platform PS3 exclusive.

The answer to that question, is no.

hmm perhaps i did something wrong, been along time since i did this kind of math. I divided weekly sales on total sales to check the increase per week. which was 0.015% that means that total sales for ps3 increase 1.015% each week. Then i used logarithms.

I dont know if the answer is no, but it is definitely no in the next year. Its kinda exciting times right now. We will know by the end of next month whether

A. The Xbox360 is truly America's console
B. If the 360 is on the verge of death in Europe
C. If the Wii is a fad or here to stay
D. Have a pretty solid idea about who will win the console war.

In many ways GTAIV will decide all consoles fate. IMO, its most critical for the Xbox360. If early reports of the PS3 being the better version are true, the 360 might be dead until Gears 2 is released. It will be interesting.

OT: That guy who was playin GTAIV live on the Xbox360....his Xbox just RROD live while thousands of people were watching lol. Thats pretty funny...
