You're using a wrecking ball to hit a nail in a two by four... this is simple math
PS3 is outselling the 360 by 52,000 units/week so it will take 123 weeks for the PS3 to catch up to the 6.4 million consoles its behind... NOT 66

Wrong, you say that as if for those 123 weeks the 360 doesn't sell a single console. It needs much mroe than 123 weeks to catch it, saying it sells this constant, for both the PS3 and the 360. |
Check your facts. OUTselling by 52k/week * 123 = 6.34 million which is *GASP* about the amount the PS3 needs to pass the 360! And that's not counting the acceleration of the timetable due to increased holiday sales on both consoles, etc. (see DMeisterJ's post above) |
The best way to think of it is to look at the %. The PS3 has been selling between 30-40% more then the 360. If that trend continues, the PS3 will pass the 360 before the 360 hit's 40 mil in sales. So if you think the 360 will not sell another 20 million in the next 123 weeks, then I guess your right ;)
