Forums - Sales - March 2025 VGChartz Estimates Thread - Worldwide Estimates Out Now

Nice to see the Switch hit its potentially final 10m milestone and if not its last one for a long time. It already being down 40% YoY is another sign that its sales are collapsing though since it's surely already selling less than 100k a week this month based on the recent Japan sales. The Switch 2 is having an even bigger impact pre-launch than I thought it would and marketing for it has only just gone into high gear.

The PS5 is continuing to not decline by much compared to last year though the relatively big drop in the Americas is interesting and it getting another price increase in various regions could sting. And the Xbox Series decline is worse than last month though not by much with it once again declining the least in the Americas and less compared to the same month last year so it looks like it has a really good shot of declining notably less compared to last year if GTA 6 makes it though its sales are already low enough to where that only does so much at this point and it still looks horrible compared to the Xbox One.

Overall things are fine though it's good that June is just around the corner.

PS5 barely over 300k in Europe seems way too undertracked.
They had an Astro bot bundle for 499 and 399.
We have data for spain that shows impressive sales numbers for PS5 in march.

Europe numbers are less accurate now due to limited data since Chris Dring left the company he was with and no longer releases those reports. The best case for more accuracy is to wait until May 13th when Sony releases their fiscal report and shipment data, then we might get some adjustments if that's the case.

The Switch Sold over 150.86 Million Units as of December 31, 2024 as officially announced by Nintendo, and this site still hasn't updated those numbers.

Is there a glitch here, oversight, or some under the rug tribalism?

When Sony announced 160 Million for PS2 it was updated Immediately, I'm just saying based off of the numbers since December, the Switch is close to number 2 all time.

When Sony announced 160 Million for PS2 it was updated Immediately, I'm just saying based off of the numbers since December, the Switch is close to number 2 all time.

The numbers on the front page are sell-through (sold to customer). The numbers that companies report are shipped (sold to retailer).

The sell-through will usually always be roughly 1-3m below the shipped figure, until the console stops shipping and the remaining stock on shelves is sold, then sell-through catches up to shipped.

This is why this site has PS5 at around 72m for end of 2024 when Sony announced 75m. It's not a glitch, oversight or tribalism.

Basically as of December 31st 2024 Nintendo have shipped out 150.86m from their factories to companies like Gamestop, Target etc. But customers have not purchased 150.86m by that same date, that would be impossible.

What Zippy says is correct. Nintendo reports units sell-in (sold to retailer) aka units shipped, while here at VGChartz we report units sold to consumers. The gap between the two tends to be between 1 million and 3 million depending on how fast a console is selling.
