Forums - Sales - March 2025 VGChartz Estimates Thread - Worldwide Estimates Out Now

Welcome to the March 2025 VGChartz estimates thread, which includes the dates from March 2 to April 5. The articles breaking down March 2025 estimates will be posted in this thread.

You can go to the front page of the site and use the drop down to see the different weekly and monthly sales.

VGChartz Methodology: Hardware estimates are based on retail sampling and trends in individual countries, which are then extrapolated to represent the wider region. This typically allows us to produce figures that end up being within 10% of the actual totals.

This data is regularly compared against official shipment figures released by the console manufacturers and figures estimated by regional trackers with greater market coverage than ourselves. We then update our own estimates to bring them into line with those figures. This can result in frequent changes often within a short space of time, but we feel it's important to prioritise accuracy over consistency.

Note that our estimates are based on sell-through data (units sold to consumers). In almost all cases the figures released by console manufacturers are based on shipment data (sell-in), where as soon as a device has left the factory and entered the supply chain for delivery it is considered a sale. This is why there is always a difference between the companies’ figures (sell-in) and VGChartz estimates (sell-through), even after we’ve made adjustments. The one exception to that is when a console has been discontinued and the remaining stock has finally sold out – at that point the figures will match.

March 2025 sees the Switch top 150 million and the PS5 top 75 million lifetime.

The Switch is 3.77 million away from outselling the DS and the PS5 is 0.66 million away from outselling the 3DS.

The Xbox Series X|S is 0.2 million away from outselling the N64 and 1.33 million away from outselling the Sega Genesis. Those will be the last 2 consoles the Xbox Series X|S will outsell worldwide as it has no chance of topping the SNES's 49.1 million.

That's kind of harsh.

But then again, undoubtedly true.

PS5 barely over 300k in Europe seems way too undertracked.
They had an Astro bot bundle for 499 and 399.
We have data for spain that shows impressive sales numbers for PS5 in march.
