Forums - Sony - Helldivers 2 spark renewed interest in Killzone. Do we deserve it?

Helldivers 2 has been a boon for both Arrowhead and Sony's Live Service Venture. When this game was first revealed, most gamers were put off with the gameplay change from the 3/4 overhead view of the first game. Despite the risk, the end result has been positive both in terms of revenue and player retention.

Now, with most games these days, live service included, comes the inclusion of microtransactions. In Helldiver 2's case, these come in the form of Warbonds and the superstore. Some of them were a hit, others were a miss. But one of the superstore items that have sparked interest is the Killzone set. While this is nice, this would have much better served as a warbond. Putting it in the superstore comes off as greedy, but that's an issue for another video. More to the point, the Killzone franchise fanbase had taken note, and it sparked renewed interest in wanting the series to be revived.

The toxic part of the playerbase bitched about why Helldivers 2 didn't offer options (not necessary, they just want another COD) available in other games but when Arrow Head decided to charge the Killzone cosmetics at similar prices found in those other games (cosmetics you don't need btw) the toxic part of the playerbase called them greedy.

No, I don't think people like that deserve anything lol.

A collection of previous games at least.

I've been wanting a remastered Killzone collection complete with a proper remake of the first game for some time, now. As for making new games in the series, the setting is still great; they just need to bring the gameplay back to formula to help it stand out from the pack.

I almost want them to reboot the story in general, just in hopes they let enemies like Radec and Skaar last longer. They were both too cool for just 1 game each. Sure, you'd have to kill them eventually. But I wish they had more time

I'd love another Killzone entry or even a collection.

Having said that, I still have Shadow Fall sitting in my backlog lol.

I’m all for the return of Killzone, although moving forward I’d much prefer the series emulate the less beloved entries: Killzone, Liberation, and Mercenary. I actually found 2, 3, and Shadow Fall to be disappointing.

I see no reason for Sony to bring back Killzone. That series didn't sell very well and Horizon outsold the whole series with 1 game.
