- Also a bit concerned that they made it clear there isn't 100% backwards compatibility, but hopefully it's just means it's like 99% of games and only a handfull of games can't make it for some reason.

- Elden Ring announcement wow!!!! Definitely plan on getting this game. Though I'm a bit confused about the "Tarnished Edition" part. Does that mean it has extra things...or does that mean it is downgraded? Assuming it's a good port this would definitely be the first AAA third party game I get on Switch 2 as it's one of the main games from the consoles the past 5 years that I've been interested in.

It's understandable to not promise that every game will be backwards compatible. You never know if one game may be troublesome to get to an acceptable playable state for whatever reason, and then you may have a false advertisement lawsuits on your hand.

So it should be standard practice to not promise that.
PS5 did the same, but I have still not heard of a PS4 game that isn't backwards compatible.

I think the "Tarnished Edition" indicates that it will include the DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree.
There was at least one case where a subtitle on Switch indicated a downgraded version (I believe it was a FIFA game running on an older engine), but Elden Ring should not have any issues on Switch 2.
It's a cross-gen PS4 title which ran at 30 fps there, and I expect the Switch 2 version to run at 60fps while looking the same, which was the case for the PS5 version.
Although it wasn't stable 60fps, even on PS5 Pro for some reason. So we'll have to see how Switch 2 handles that. But I'm expecting it somewhere in that range.

Elden Ring is great. You can make it as difficult or easy as you want it to be, since they allow you to explore most of the world right from the start. And very few bosses require defeating in order to progress. Maybe just 2 or 3? Not counting the final boss segment.
So if you have trouble with a boss, you can go somewhere else, find powerful equipment out in the world, or take on any of the other 100+ bosses and then come back hours later and one-shot the boss that gave you trouble.

I stand corrected.
It seems my expectations were a bit off from what's been reported today.

Although I expected 60fps with the expectation of DLSS being used, but for some reason it's not featured in any of these titles.
I thought for sure DLSS was a big incentive for them to port these games.
Maybe it will be added later? But weird not to launch with it if the games are 30 fps.

Supposedly Digital Foundry reported on the assets in FF7 Remake being from the PS4 version, despite having Integrade in the name.

Jason Schreier said Cyberpunk ran at 40fps in Performance Mode. I guess no DLSS there either.

Though I think Elden Ring and FF7 Remake are fine to play at 30fps, but I expected DLSS support for these type of third party games.

The build of Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate is only 7 weeks old, well that explains how there was very little to no software side leaks on the Switch 2 ... Nintendo being Nintendo waited until the last minute to give 3rd party developers kits.

Looks pretty good to me. CD Project Red is handling the port directly too to Switch 2, not farming it out like Witcher 3 which is another sign that the Switch 2 can just handle these kinds of ports directly and doesn't need to have a specialty studio spending 12 months porting it.

Maybe it's my memory but this looks significantly better than the PS4 version already.

They also say Yakuza 0 runs at 4K/60 fps ... which is well beyond the PS4 version. PS4 games running at 4K/60 already is pretty promising IMO.

Also very positive on Split Fiction (which is a PS5/XSX gen game that uses Unreal Engine 5) ... it looks very comparable to the PS5/XSX versions according to them.

Neither of these games have native DLSS support on PC. That is almost certainly why it isn't implemented.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a seven week old build. I am very confident the release version will have DLSS support, because that is Nvidia's showcase title.

Honestly looks like developers got kits in like late January/early February. That's why there were no like UBI Soft style leaks.

They reeeeeeally were hell bent on clamping down the info stream as much as possible until this fiscal year (ended March 31st) was over.

7 weeks old build is extremely early. I trust CD Project to at some point impress with their releases.
Once again they're using an expensive cartridge like with Witcher 3, so I was hoping they'd make it impressive. Looks like they probably will once the game is finished.

I dunno how much they fixed that version, but despite having access to the PS4 version I never even wanted to try it due to the state it launched in.

Yeah I'm sure that's why there's no DLSS in those games. I dunno how much it costs them to implement it.

Fanboy nonsense from people that haven't left Twitter yet. Graphics have NEVER been the deciding factor when it comes to selling consoles or whether a game is fun.

Zelda is confirmed to be 4k :/ both from those who played it and Nintendo.
https://www.videogameschronicle.com/features/we-played-nintendo-switch-2/

"At 4K 60fps, Tears of the Kingdom is undeniably a better experience here: this is a monster adventure game that still chugs on the original Switch, and revisiting it in silky-smooth form on Switch 2 feels like a compelling offer, especially because it’s being bundled with the Switch Online Expansion Pack."

Edit: Apparently those numbers in the tweet were obtained by DF from testing youtube videos lol, DF have not had a s good time recently as they said it would not be possible for Switch 2 to have a 1080p screen.

Definitely! Nintendo has proved time and time again that the focus on video games being fun first and foremost is the biggest key to being successful. If graphics really were the one all be all at all times as much as twitter fanboy trolling nonsense try to make it out to be, the DS, Wii, Switch, etc, wouldn't have beat the competition the way they did.

A handheld console isn't as powerful as a dedicated box???? I'M SHOCKED!

I would like to know how a Switch 2 compares to a Steam deck when you factor in storage costs of an all-digital device. Is it as powerful? More? Less? Also have to factor in how much a Steam deck will cost after tariffs kick in. But twitter is not the place for a level-headed discussion.
