Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch 2 Direct - 1 Day Left

Mario Kart 9 and Metroid Prime 4 are launch titles, and they’ll have big trailers. Also a teaser for 3D Mario to come later, probably holidays. System launch… I’m doubting between june and september.

I hope there's a version of Metroid Prime 4 on Switch 2 that looks like a generational leap over the Switch game. Think: A 'Gamecube Prime-to-Switch Prime' level of difference. That would certainly explain that tweet about Prime 4 stealing the show at the Direct.

Also very interested to see how the next 3D Mario is and if there is indeed some kind of Zelda remake on the horizon, then I'm hoping it's for Ocarina of Time.

I don’t see how unless Retro has essentially been developing two separate MP4s for years. Which could be possible given how long this thing has been in development. But what people keep not realizing is Switch 2 isn’t a PS4 or PS5 situation. It’s not making a jump that isn’t huge enough for it to be hard to develop cross-gen. It should be a huge leap over Switch, which is practically mid 00s level hardware. You don’t go from 360 games to PS4 Pro games very easily if you’re trying to develop for both.

Feels weird that it is one week away for a full reveal.

I expect some focus on the mouse use of the joy cons, maybe a new Mario Paint, or an RTS will be the showcase for it. Or some updated version of a Switch game that might have benefits with the feature.

I think they will announce GameCube games as part of the Nintendo Online, with Wii-titles coming later in the consoles life (and not announced next week).

I new 3D Mario will be teased. But they will lean towards Mario Kart being the main launch title.

I also expect to be disappointed. So they will probably spend a lot of time on farming simulators I have no interest in.

A lot of ports.

Switch 2 sounds so surreal and all these new games sound very exciting

We'll find out in a week.

I think they will keep the farming simulators for future Switch 2 directs.

Perhaps "generational jump" was a bit too much - 'Gamecube Prime-to-Switch Prime Remaster' is much more accurate.  The gameplay code is, fundamentally, the same.  There would be no developing two separate versions for what I'm describing, just developing assets for the Switch 2 version.

But I don't think that Switch 2 will have its own version of the game after all.  I think it's much more likely that Prime 4 gets a boost mode (ala XCX) that is unlockable on the new hardware.  Hopefully, it's a serious boost mode though.

Damn, I'm going to miss this because of work lol.

Its going to be hell to try and avoid spoilers.

All I want to see is the new 3D Mario, with it coming on launch day, and to find out when launch day is. Of course also we'll get to see MK9 which I'd expect to release soon after the system launch. And then just give us a summer/Fall lineup of games with sneak peaks at those future games. If they also announce some big third party games coming this year that'd be cool too.

Does anybody else get the feeling that Switch 2 hype is a bit…lacklustre?. For me it definitely is and I always get excited for a new launch, but not this time for some reason.
