Great month for Sony per usual.

PS5 is tracking 7% higher than PS4 launch aligned with the Portal dominating accessories. Its also amazing to see Astro Bot still hanging on the monthly charts.

Astro Bot sales are well deserved. From what I've seen it is on par with a Nintendo platformer. I'm a PC gamer and if it makes it way to PC I'll be buying it. Though I realize that isn't the most likely given how PlayStation centric it is.

Terrible result for Monster Hunter Wilds on consoles.

We've known for a while that Capcom games sell most on PC globally, but it is a surprise to see a PC version dominate in the US and potentially the west. Japanese game fans are definitely moving to PC, and not just in Asia.

Edit: It's up 40%+ in dollar sale over World launch aligned, which is better than I thought.

Did we get splits for Monster Hunter?

I think something like 50% PC, 35/40% PS5, 10/15% Xbox Series makes sense. Or am I underestimating Xbox software sales?

If anything, you're likely overestimating Xbox software sales. With new users at an all time low and it falling further behind Xone in sales people are starting to jump ship. If the game isn't on game pass than it's likely not going to put up decent engagement from that crowd.

From here on out, PC/PS sales ratio are going to continue to get higher and Xbox lower. Even quite a few Xbox users on this site have already switched to PC. With rumors that the next console for MS won't arrive until late 2027 then the next 2 and a half+ years are going to be at an all time low for their console sales as time passes. I would even guess MH:Wilds split to be 50% PC, 42% PS5, and 8% Xbox S/X.

That's what happens when one of the consoles HW is dying. More of that ecosystem is jumping to PC.

The PS5 being down more than the Xbox Series YoY this month is interesting since it's the only region where that happened. At this point it really is up to the USA to keep Xbox from completely dying.

Xbox having 8% of the split would be shocking lol.

NA should still be a strong region for them, at least for the rest of this gen, with their userbase approaching 20M.

Path of Exile 2 on PC, at Nr.9 :) hell yeah.
Avowed above Yakuza in sales, in the US is a surprise. Rest of the World I think Yakuza comes out on top.
Then there are the ever green games... RDR, Spiderman, Helldivers, Astrobot, GTA, Minecraft, that just always seem to stick around.

No surprises that Monster Hunter took the crown.

March is when Trump puts in place those Tarrifs on consoles hardware right?
Gonna be a thing to keep a eye on, how much that effects sales.

Yeah its 18m Xbox x/s vs 28m PS5's in the US.
That should put them at like 39% of the sales the PS5 has, if each of them had consumers buying equal amounts of games.

So it could be like 50% PC, 31% PS5 and 19% Xbox. (if we go by their xbox to ps5 ratio in the US).

However, I think Monster Hunter is one of those games that more appealing to the crowd on playstation side, that usually buy that console also because they enjoy japanese games.  That and many Xbox gamers are gamepass users, that view buying games as a "no go", we rent them, from gamepass subscriptions and thats that. "if its not on gamepass I'm just not playing it" "I'll wait for it to go to gamepass".

So Its probably not far from being like 50% PC, 40% PS5 and 10% Xbox (in the US).

Rest of the world (no US), it'll be much smaller split towards xbox, because how much less of it is sold there (compared to US market share).

We'll need to see if Sony and Microsoft raise the prices of their consoles in response and if the Switch 2 ends up costing more in the US compared to other regions.
