PS5 Q3 2024-9.5 million vs Q3 2023- 8.2 million.
-That is 1.3 million higher than 2023' holiday quarter without any major first party release. (2023 had Spider-Man 2)

- nearly twice the amount of Nintendo Switch's Q3 2024 shipments. (9.5M vs 4.82M)

Phenomenal results all round. Definitely exceeded all expectations

This is the peak quarter of PS5's life cycle (probably will remain so), very impressive and makes hitting their 18 million fiscal year target a certainty.
Year over year quarter 3 Hardware shipments are 1.3million up from 8.2 million.

PS5 Versus PS4

For the 3rd quarter of the 4th full fiscal year (orange) the 9.5 million the PS5 shipped is 0.5 million up on PS4's 9.0 million and after 17 quarters the PS5 totals 75.0 million compared to 76.7 million for the PS4. This means launch aligned the PS5 is 1.7 million behind PS4.

For PS5 Calendar Year Shipments (millions)

2020: 4.50
2021: 12.80
2022: 14.80

Took from ResetEta, but this is good news for Sony:

Monstrous quarter for the PS5.

They will easily hit their 18M+ FY target. What's interesting is 42% of PS5 purchases in the last quarter were from new users.

Definately some Ex- Xbox users and Astro bot might have pulled in some Nintendo users as well.

Phenomenal quarter for ps5 hardware.

And I thought VGChartz overtracked Europe in November...

PS5, for its high pricetag and small exclusives quantity, continues to amaze. Q3 software sales at 95 million is their 3rd highest without a new first party title release (Their best is 104.2 million. 2nd best is 95.6 million). I think Xbox's decline is beginning to feed into PS5's sales more clearly.

Xbox don't reveal any numbers and from all other data that has been released by other companies(crazy how we get crumbs of xbox numbers from a 3rd party publishers instead of MS themselves) to give glimps of how much it might have sold it seems to point out that its over tracked

With the great releases this year, and perhaps GTA 6 in the last quarter, the PS5 should surpass the sales of the PS4.
