It seems like it. I know Dring was trying to work out a new deal with GfK (UK data) and GSD (Europe data) so he can continue those monthly reports on another site. He worked something out with GSD as he put out the 2024 full year report on VideoGamesChronicle. But I haven't heard anything since. Without those monthly reports it does mean our Europe estimates will be less accurate as that is one less source of data for us.

PS5 Best-Seller, XS Sales Drop by Nearly 50% - Worldwide Hardware Estimates for January 2025

The PlayStation 5 was the best-selling console worldwide with 937,226 units sold for January 2025, according to VGChartz estimates. The PlayStation 5 has now sold an estimated 72.97 million units lifetime worldwide.

The Nintendo Switch sold an estimated 563,868 units to bring its lifetime sales to 149.19 million units. The Xbox Series X|S sold 209,728 units to bring their lifetime sales to 32.20 million units.

PS5 sales compared to the same month for the PS4 in 2018 are down by nearly 385,000 units, while the Xbox Series X|S compared to the same month for the Xbox One are down by over 265,000 units. PS4 sold 1,321,819 units for the month of January 2018 and Xbox One sales were at 474,819 units.

PlayStation 5 sales compared to the same month a year ago are down by 423,461 (-31.1%). Xbox Series X|S sales are down by 199,089 units (-48.7%) and Nintendo Switch sales are down by -395,977 units (-41.3%). It should be noted January 2025 is a four-week month, while January 2024 had five weeks.

Looking at sales month-on-month, PlayStation 5 sales are down by 3.03 million units, Xbox Series X|S sales are down by 2.05 million units, and Nintendo Switch sales are down by 0.74 million units.

The 4 vs 5 week thing makes it a little tricky to compare but it's clear that despite that all three are down with the PS5 unsurprisingly holding up the best by a notably margin while the Xbox Series continues falling into irrelevance. Some things of note to point out are that the PS5 Pro doesn't seem like it'll help out that much this year, the Xbox Series is getting to Wii U level in Europe and the Switch declining the most throughout the four weeks could be a sign of things to come. February will show if the declines outside of Japan are looking more notable.

PS5 vs Xbox Series X|S vs Switch Launch Sales Comparison Through Month 51

This monthly series compares the aligned launch sales of the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

It should be noted the Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S had a worldwide launch, while the PlayStation 5 launch was split over the course of two weeks. Also, the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017, while the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S launched during the holidays in November 2020.

PS5 Vs. Xbox Series X|S Vs. Switch Global:

Through the first 51 months available worldwide the Nintendo Switch is ahead of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Switch is ahead of the PS5 by 12.84 million units and is 53.61 million units ahead of the Xbox Series X|S. The PS5 is ahead of the Xbox Series X|S by 40.77 million units.

The Switch has sold 85.81 million in 51 months worldwide, while the PS5 sold 72.97 million units and the Xbox Series X|S 32.20 million units.

Looking at the marketshare through 51 months, the Switch is in the lead. The Switch has a 44.9 percent marketshare, the PS5 sits at 38.2 percent, and the Xbox Series X|S at 16.9 percent.

Looking at the marketshare through 51 months, the PlayStation 5 currently leads. The PS5 has a 45.9 percent marketshare, the Switch sits at 39.0 percent, and the Xbox Series X|S at 15.1 percent.

The Switch has sold 20.09 million units in 51 months in Japan, while the PS5 has sold 6.52 million units, and the Xbox Series X|S 0.67 million units.

Looking at the marketshare through 51 months, the Switch currently leads. The Switch has a 73.7 percent marketshare, the PS5 sits at 23.9 percent, and the Xbox Series X|S at 2.4 percent.
