And addrat wonders if spelling it Mid instead of Myth was a typo or a sneaky diss.

How is it possible for Switch to have sell 20K units more than in the same period of last year, without any significant launch and with Switch 2 already announced? O_o'

If you look at the breakdown by SKU, you see that the main driver of the increase is the Switch Lite, which is up 20K over last year-to-date. I'm guessing this is because it's the cheapest console available now? The price of the PS5 only went up last year while the Switch stayed the same. This makes me think that the Switch Lite will remain in production even well after the Switch 2 launches, and may even be key to Switch reaching 160M worldwide.

I agree.  In this latest quarterly report from Nintendo, I saw the tie ratio in Japan is noticeably lower in Japan compared to The Americas and Europe.  This suggests that Nintendo is successful in Japan when it comes to reaching that "1 system per user" goal instead of just "1 system per household".  However, in The Americas and Europe its a "1 system per household" situation in most households.  Switch Lite will definitely continue to be very important in Japan, but I think they are going to have to keep one of the other hardware SKUs going to continue sales in other regions.

The Switch2 reveal hurt Playstation more than it did Nintendo it seems. Let's see if Monster Hunter Wilds can do a little push.

That is now the 2nd full week after the Switch 2 reveal trailer and Switch 1 is still maintaining that 40k+ baseline and is actually up YoY this week.

It’s probably going to maintain that 30-40k range right up until that Switch 2 Direct - Which will take place during Week 14.
So that would be 9 weeks of an additional 270-360k sales which would put Switch 1’s 2025 JP sales at 575-665k by the end of Week 14 - The Week of the Switch 2 Direct.

After that, we will see.

PS5 may achieve something that should be impossible this year, ie having a bigger YoY drop than Switch will have in Japan, even though Switch will be replaced as a console this year while PS5 have several years left as the main console for Sony.

haha that's true. Both are gonna drop a ton this year, but looks like Switch may have a decent first 4/5 months before being replaced, while PS5 is gonna be bad all year long. Wouldn't be surprised to see PS5 drop from 10k-12k weekly to

@DroidKnight Thanks fixed.

King Switch, getting closer to 160 million every week!!!!
