SEGA trademarks Skies of Arcadia, Eternal Arcadia in Japan

The skies await?

Took them long enough. Whenever it drops it will be a day one for me. I will literally but another game on pause to replay Skies of Arcadia.

Might as well.

Never got to play it so this is great and a lot of companies are remastering/porting older legacy titles.

On the DC for me, always.

Rieko Kodama (Phoenix Rie) died in 2022, was 58 years old, being still a Sega worker. Fuck... that comes too late. It's a shame.

I do not expect anything more than a remaster for Switch 1 or 2. Not a remake, much less a sequel. A promising franchise from 25 years ago is too old, now.
In fact, I do not expect nothing, until Sega shows videos of something real. Not a pre-development trailer, like they did with VF.

All japanese third companies are suffering too much to produce any interesting real game outside the famous franchises from the last 10 years. They are just trying to survive, and one step wrong is now a real FATALITY. 30 years ago was nothing.

Sometimes, I'm asking myself if it will not be better for Sega to re-start licensing new Mega Drive and Dreamcast games, and selling new "MD and Dreamcast" pc hardware based machines, to play those games inside using an embedded emulator.

What could all of this mean.

Nintendo renews the Eternal Darkness IP every few years as well. This is common. Just a corporations protecting their IP. More than likely nothing comes out of this. Remember they also put those characters in the Valkyrie Chronicles games. Also SEGA Racing Transformed. Don't read too much into this.

Calm your tits. Companies renew IPs like this all the time. Unlikely any new release happens. Just SEGA protecting their IP.
