I feel like you're trying to make difference no one cares about you. Yes, it's a difference, but who cares?

I care. If a passthrough box/cable can count make a device into a hybrid what do we call the Beeling GTi12 ultra. It has no distinction now and this is why distinctions are important. People have taken away a category from real hybrids

I don't think anyone has tried to take anything away from "real" hybrids. I feel like you're the one who's trying to take that description away from the Switch. Besides the Switch Lite, you've been trying so hard to keep the Switch categorized as a handheld console only despite it working as a home console as well.

As I told you before, the Switch uses its full power when docked, allowing games to run at a higher resolution than in portable mode. In portable mode, it uses a lower power profile since it's running on its battery instead of running on the dock. The way the system works is why it's considered a hybrid.

I know the Switch had different power profiles and and clock speeds when docked. The problem with that logic is that, the switch can be overclocked without a dock too. It doesn't need a dock to achieve a higher power draw and higher clock speed, it's capable of that without it. So how could a dock raising a clock speed mean it's a hybrid, when raising the clock without a dock means it's still a portable.

I looked it up, where is that thing's built-in display for it to be a hybrid?

That thing is a PC that can turn into a home console if you flash an OS like Bazzite on it. I recently bought a Beelink to do exactly that.

I feel like there are two kinds of people in this thread. There's the people who don't have to jump through hoops to make their point, and there's the person who thinks that connecting an optional peripheral to a device with the word "portable" in its name makes it a home console

Hardstuck, you have been arguing in here all week. Please just give it a rest lol. Not everybody has to be in agreement, it's okay for others to have differing opinions.

But many people think they can determaine what we are allowed to compare and what not. Dertermaining what is called Handheld, PC, Console...

I have the feeling vgchartz logic is:

Playstation is always Nr.1, the best, god, the king. If some system outsells it, its no competition or/ and a so called "different target group🤣😂. Switch is a hybrid, but more a homeconsole (despite the fact more people use it in handheld mode- there even was a statistics in ir.nintendo.com wich confirms it. This is where they also confirmed that 43% of their userbase is 25- 34 years old, smashing the faces of the "kiddy- shouters", but thats a different topic that upsets too many teenies😘)

Ah, and we are not allowed to call the Switch a "handheld" (because it would have been the most powerfull handheld of all time- and still is the most powerful handheld that supports games on cardridges), but a Steam Deck, Rog Faily... are dedicated handhelds, despite the fact you can also hook them up on a TV... ähm sorry PC fanboys "MONITOR" wich lets it play like a console/ PC. Strange times🤣😂

There's also the:

Nin has a blue ocean strategy that allows them to be different and in which they don't have to compete directly with PS or XB, which is a big reason for their more recent success. Yet, also, Switch is definitely a home console that competes directly with PS and XB so when it passes 160M sales it will overtake PS2 for the best selling console ever!

Nobody cares about a "stradegy", everyone cares about SALES! Does vgchartz compare the sales of Xbox, Playstation and Switch? YES OR NO?

Yes? Then all 3 are competing with each other! Only because the PS5 will never catch the Switch's LTD of 155 million minimum does not mean its no competition.

Germany beat Brazil 7:1 in the 2014 world cup. Was Germany playing for a "different audience" that year?🤣😂 Spain (the team nearly everyone expected to win the world Cup in 2014) got fucked up by the Netherlands 5:1, despite all teenie girlies wet fantasies of Spain winning the World Cup. Did anyone say the Netherlands played for a "different group of people"? Did anyone say Carsias, Xabi Alonso... are better known players than Arien Robben, Stefan De Frey or Van Persie (wichs 1:0 Kill as the flying Duch Man went in the history book as one of the most beautifull goals of all time?) Does anyone critisise the comparision between Miroslav Klose the world cup record goal scorer with Lionel Messi only because he is not very well known?Only because Messi won't catch Klose?

Thats what i am refering to. The same it is with gaming. The better gaming system wins. There is no "different audience" just because Playstation is not Nr.1 anymore. Now so many people loudly shout that a rumored not even confirmed Playstation handheld would outsell the Switch for sure despite the fact it will be digital only if they really release one. If this handheld fails to do it again after a 3rd try, is this Playstation handheld also a so called "diferent audience" just because its not Nr.1?🤣😂 We all are gamers so all 3 systems can be compared full stop!!

Just google/youtube overlocking the Switch. Lots of people have achieved it.

There is no display on it. I am talking about the dock as it has a slot on it for a graphics card. My point is, what if a handheld system comes out, and is designed to work with a dock that can have a graphics card built into it. I feel that would be a true Hybrid system, but because we've already given that distinction away to a passthrough box/cable there is no category that we can put it in.

That would make it an even better hybrid. But switch is still a hybrid. It gets a boost while docked, gives a full home console experience, etc.

Oh. That. I don't count overclocking as a feature for the Switch because that involves hacking the console.
