Damn, sounds like the day 1 patch is fixing a lot of the performance issues reviewers are talking about. 90% of reviews have been about performance issues, but they’re playing pre-patch.

Eurogamer waiting to put out their review because of the day 1 patch.

I see FS2024 released yesterday, 2/10 on Steam, overwhelmingly negative.

It seems they haven't learned anything from last time.

For people still wondering what the difference between the 2024 and 2020 version of MSFS would be, so far my experience with MSFS2024 has been exactly the same as with MSFS2020 on launch day :

- No pre-loading of game files before launch
- No actual pre-order benefits
- Files downloaded through in-game interface
- This time around in-game install interface does not support mouse control, presumably because it was designed to be 'cross-platform'...
- Saturated servers cause endless download times for a miserable 50GB
- Downloading time counting as 'game time' prevents customers from requesting refunds.

Same issues were present 4 yrs ago, they simply did not learn.

EDIT : I am now 'in a queue' for logging in, due to 'too many people trying to log in at once'. That is very reassuring for a web-based application that promises to stream the majority of it high definition content...

I can only marvel at the depth of the simulation, as it now feels like Boeing was actually involved in building the servers, and someone from Embraer was put in charge of planning the launch.

0/10 launch, I hope the actual product makes up for it when I try again tomorrow.

Anyway uninstalling FS2020 should help make room, I'm too far behind in updates anyway (doesn't fit anymore, 1060 too old)

From 130GB to 380GB free now, damn that game ballooned in size!

It's downloading now. Steam reports the actual download size as 144.79 GB.

Onto the SSD after moving stuff over.

Steam is downloading at 430 mbps, I've never seen my connection go that fast!

Oh well, it was a fluke, throttled again down to 180 mbps. Still a lot faster than PSN downloads!

Gonna take the plunge; reviews seem to report that it's still very much STALKER underneath the bugs. This is exactly what I hoped for, I think this might go the way of Cyberpunk 2077 when all is said and done, and be patched into a hit. It's brutal and nasty, and the open world creates some insane organic scenarios.

Edit; 20-minute download including the day one patch isn't too bad.

EG giving a free pass until bug fixes arrive (site is crap since the Ziff Davis monopoly completed its takeover). This is why I watch YouTube instead of shitty gaming journalism, game needed delaying, fact.

Here is what Eurogamer actually said.

In brief: we need a little more time with this one, for two main reasons. The first is that Stalker 2 is a pretty sizable game and we've not had all that long with it, so we're giving ourselves some extra breathing room to ensure we've been able to make significant enough progress for a full review.

The second reason, though, is both more pertinent, and more troubling. At time of writing, the early review build of Stalker 2 that was sent to us by developer GSC Game World has several, quite major technical issues. We've been assured that a Day One patch will be launched alongside the game's general release today, and so we want to make sure our appraisal is reflective of the version of the game you'll be playing yourself.

As such, we're currently aiming to publish our review on Friday November 22nd, so you'll be able to read our full thoughts on Stalker 2 then.

Absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to review a game based on the day one patch and taking 2 extra days to post your review, in fact, that's actually more credit to Eurogamer because now they're missing out on the day one review posting hype, less people will care about Eurogamer's review after everyone else has already put theirs out, this kind of move would hurt Eurogamer more than aid them.

Seems more like you dislike mainstream journalists because you fall into half-truths about them and their actions.

Games should be reviewed in the release state like all others. I will never defend or advocate the normalisation of releasing broken shit and take the fix later approach.

I haven't played on my Xbox since Halo Infinite so I was hoping this would be the game to get me back on it. Really would like a good FPS and this seemed like it would scratch that normal FPS but with some weird element itch. But reviews are sketchy so far.

Reviews are based on the performance issues on the games pre-patch. The day 1 patch seems to have alleviated a lot of the issues reviewers were noticing. But, there's nothing they can do about when GSC didn't provide the most up to date build of the game.

It's agreed on that there's a great game there even before the day 1 patch. BUT, it's a hardcore FPS. Expect to die a LOT.

Games should be reviewed in the release state like all others, seems you have as much credibility and integrity as a toilet bug; a bit like journalism.

Bruh. Seems you can't read either. What do you think day one patch means? Many reviewers have not reviewed it in the release state, because it has received 2 huge patches before release and 1 on release, Eurogamer is therefore reviewing it on its release date, with the day one patch, and taking 2 extra days to drop their review, which apparently is sacrilege to you.

What are you talking about my credibility for? Do I look like a reviewer to you?

Don't get arsy with me lad just because I clarified your purposely misleading statement. Too many people walk around posting misleading shit, leaving others to clean up after them, then throw a tantrum when called out on it, how about you actually do the minimum effort yourself from the beginning then people (or I in this case) won't call you out.
