Well Dweller

I have this in my wishlist, but haven't pull the trigger yet.

Is it more exploration oriented, like Animal Well, or it's more of modern Metroidvania/Souls hybrid?

No souls at all, because of lack of time I can't commit to souls games that much anymore and this game is very gamerfriendly and respect gamers time.

Example:

- You lose nothing when you die.

- You have big tents that act as your fast travel points and you can travel from any point in the game to them.

- Their are characters you meet who sell stuff/information but they will all open a place in the fast travel tents so you don't need to go a specific location to buy stuff/information.

- Their are things to collect in the game but very early on you have the option to buy the locations of the objects you missed in previously visited rooms.

- Nothing is missable and makes it fun to go blind into.

- You have difficulty options

- You have trinkets that help you but you need trinket slots to equip them...Again what is great about the game is that you can find and buy more trinket slots..
You can (I did not try it myself) buy enough Trinket slots to equip everything.

It is more Metroidvania with exploration but you don't need any point a guide the game does really an excellent job to have the ability to make it easier if you want it yourself.

Playing on normal this is like an 4-5/10 difficulty game, but anyone who has played Silksong/Celese/hollow knight, will probably breeze trough the bosses and challenges but you will not feel like the game is 'easy' but rather that you experience in other games make it easy.

If you end up playing it I would recommend Crypt Custodian and Islets aswell.

Thanks, looks something I will enjoy quite a bit, though if I'm completely honest, I'm looking for a game that will scratch that particular Metroidvania/Metroidbrania itch that Animal Well left.

Obviously Fez but I guess you must have played it already.

If you really want the Brania part then you have to give La Mulana a try.

It is hard and it barely give any hints so it could be your thing.  It also has a sequel but I never tried and both of them are bundled on consoles.

A lot to explore but it never will hold your hand but it is very satisfying when it clicks and you finally progress trough the game.  Get a notebook for the game aswell.
