#22 Teamfight Tactics

This is the game I currently spend most time on. It was not the first auto battler I played, I had played the Dota 2 mod, the stand alone Dota underlords and the auto chess game from the original developers of the Dota 2 mod. But none of them hold up as high to the excellent Teamfight Tactics set in the League of Legends universe.

Frequent set updates and gameplay modifications keep it fresh again and again. Just enough luck vs strategy to make each win feel like you mastered it and each loss as a fluke. The mobile version is so well done that I prefer that over the pc version. I can see myself play this game for the upcoming 10 years.

Current list - https://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread/248646/post-only-once-the-official-thread-the-15th-annual-greatest-games-event/4/#4

10 incorrect guesses - Luigi’s Mansion
- This game, which launched a major franchise, was originally conceived as a remake of another title.
- Wow, what a mansion!
- “You have once again entered the world of survival horror. Good luck!” You will see this message when you load a game.

09
- This sequel takes players outside of the United States for the first time, with competitions based in France and Mexico. That said, there are still plenty of American locations to visit.
- One of the bonus levels sees you dropped from a helicopter onto a small platform in the middle of the ocean, whilst the other gives you the opportunity to skate around Heaven itself.
- One of the unlockable characters in this highly rated extreme sports sequel is a web slinging superhero.

08
- 11 / 96 (for minimalists / for completionists).
- This game introduced a beloved character to the series. The character’s main function here was conceived as an idea for previous games, but the hardware at the time was not powerful enough for it to come to fruition.
- This game was a launch title for one of the most beloved consoles of all time.

06
- An adventure that has levels based in South America, Europe, Africa, and a mythical location.
- Or more specifically - Peru, Greece, Egypt, and Atlantis.
- First game in this series that features probably the most well known female video character.

10) Resident Evil?

8) I'm unsure between two options but I'm gonna try Super Mario 64

6) Tomb Raider

10 and 6 are both correct. 8 is incorrect - Super Mario 64 is already in my list at number 11 or 12.

# 21 Uncharted 2 Among Thieves

I'm so so glad that I kept playing this franchise after the first game that I actually thought was a bit clunky and not nearly as fun as the second and third instalment. I could just as easily have put the third game over this, but I think Uncharted 2 is over all a better game. The introduction is such a great set piece that they used it twice. Climbing up a train that is falling off a cliff, oh man it got my adrenaline pumping.

Good blend between adventure, fantastic scenery, run and gun, and puzzles to keep the game interesting from start to finish. Borrowing from both Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider this game struck ancient gold and made me a fan of Naughty Dogs work. I still have a few games in the franchise to play. But so far this is the top dog of modern type linear adventure games.

#20 Super Mario Maker 2

Given my profile pic I guess it is not much of a surprise finding a Super Mario Maker game in my top games list. I have a bit of a modding vein in me having built small mods for a few 2D Zelda games as well as Fire Emblem. Super Mario Maker made it possible with official software to create my own Mario levels, sign me up! The first game was in my opinion for long the only reason to own a WiiU, when the second game dropped on Switch, I dropped my WiiU.

If I only got to play Mario Maker, I think that game single handily would scratch my Mario itch. The first game had better controls with the gamepad but the second game had more features and is still the better game. Now, if only people was better at game design so that I could play and enjoy more Mario levels than about 1 in 10 being good and 1 in 100 being great.

#19 Pokémon Crystal

Yes! This! I did almost everything that was possible to do in the second Pokémon adventure. Crystal being my version of choice because it was the latest game in the series released when I got my Game Boy Advance. Two whole set of worlds and gyms. The best secret boss fight ever. Super rare Pokémon of different colors. And you could play as a girl!

My first experience with Pokémon was playing on a game boy emulator and I was not that big of a fan. But since even the "cool" kids at school played and traded Pokémon I thought to give it a chance. Now I probably would recommend the Heart Gold and Soul Silver for anyone who wants to experience this game since the graphics of crystal are outdated and it includes some extra bells and whistles. But Crystal is for me such an iconic game from my childhood that I will not trade it for any newer and supposedly better version.

#18 Advance Wars Dual Strike

Content! So much content! This game is almost permanently loaded into my DS Lite. For me it is the absolute best game in the franchise. Some might argue that the different CO-modifications make the game a bit broken. That might be true, but the level of strategy it brings makes up for it for me. The Dual Strike CO-powers are also over powered to stupidity. But I still love them.

A long campaign, hard mode, massive library of extra maps and time, turn and money challenges. I have probably spent around 400 hours into this thing and I have still a lot of things to do and master. Each CO had like 10 costumes each and I remember one day spending a lot of time picking all the outfits that I thought was sexiest for each character. Probably the only time I have done something like that.

#17 The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess

My favourite 3D game in the series. To me this is the best Zelda-formula game. Fantastic temples, awesome items, perfect sidekick and just the right amount of backtracking. It is outshined in some individual aspects by other Zelda games, but I does everything so darn well that I takes the top spot for me among the 3D entries. And it actually is the only 3D Zelda game I have played from start to finish more than one time. Thinking about that is kind of sad since I have started replays of the rest multiple times.

I have nothing bad to say about this game. It is just great over all. Even the often cited slow start I feel is important to build up the relations and the reason for Link to embark on the journey. A wolf is also a better representation of Links heart than a pink rabbit.

#16 Divinity Original Sin

This game has a place in my heart like no other game can replace. I played it with my then long distance girlfriend and now wife. It takes turn based strategy combat fights up a notch making the environments an integral part of how to solve hard to beat foes. Fantastic multiplayer co-op game where characters can have their own separate storylines. For some reason the names of the summoned elements always made us laugh especially when the name was normal, here is this gigant ice monster Matilda at your service. Don't know why that cracks me up.

The second game is more of the same, better in some aspects and worse in some. We played that as well but at that point we lived together so it did not have the same impact on my life. Now if only we could find time to couch play Baldurs Gate 3...

Will try but these are kinda hard.

10) That's a lot of JRPGs isn't it... Persona 5?

9) The only thing I can think of is FFX but I don't think that's right

8) Still don't really know anything about Digimon games, but I remember one is called Cyber Sleuth

7) Eh, Kingdom Hearts?

6) Dynasty Tactics 2?

10 and 6 are correct.

7 is close but no.

Nice halfway blind guess on 10. 7 must be Kingdom Hearts 2 then?

#15 Super Mario Galaxy 2

I actually do not really like most 3D Mario games. I do not really know why. But Super Mario Galaxy had something very special. The nunchuck and wii-mote played very well. The music is absolut top. Just moving and jumping around is pure joy. The physics of different planetoids is so great to play around with that i feel something is missing in every 3D plattformer without it, almost like they stopped being part of the evolution.

This is another case of my picking the second game instead of the first since I consider it superior in almost every way, and it features Yoshi. The Mario Galaxy games and the best version of Resident Evil 4 is the only reason I sometimes miss owning a Wii. Would have scooped up the 3D all stars game for switch in a heartbeat if it had included the best 3D Mario game, Super Mario Galaxy 2. But it didn't and so I didn't.
