Do you juggle many, go for sessions in many games at one. Play one alone at a time and solely focus on it? Have a system where you rotate a number of games in different genres? Or something else?

In years past I could only focus on one game at a time, but I came up with a a system at the start of 2024, I'll play one large game like an RPG or a big open world game, while also playing a smaller in scope game that may be linear or more arcade, perhaps a rouglite or an ever green game and then I'll also have a racer pr a shooter, MMO or the like going, something that I can dip in and out of for a session or make progress while listening to a podcast. That's my system.

Right now however I'm juggling about seven games, all different genres and I'm actually enjoying it. I never thought I'd be able to play like this, it's easier than it looks and I kust have trained my brain to be able to do it over the past year.

I bet the poll will end up ad "Focus on one game at a time"

Focus on one at a time. I dont play another game unless im done with the one im currently playing. I like it that way for the sake of immersion and reducing distraction.

Anyway, weird title, I was about to reply "Sitting on a chair while looking at the TV".

I generally have 4 games going at the same time.
Game I can play on my phone on my way to and from work. Currently Teamfight Tacitics. (and to a lesser extent MTG Arena)
High quality single player game that I play on the PS5. Currently Dead Space Remake.
Multiplayer game that I play with my wife on PS5. Currently Baldur's Gate 3
Lower quality/casual game I play in bed on the Switch. Currently New Pokémon Snap

Somtimes I switch between games in each category but ye, I often have a few games goin at the same time.

One to relax with (Puzzling Places), one to warm up with (Synth Riders), one to progress with (Max Mustard).

That's usually how it goes. One 'progress' game at a time, couple evergreen games to relax/warm up.
Next 'progress' game will be Metro Awakening once I pick up the pro. Then Max will be on hold until Metro is finished.

I can only really enjoy one game at a time*. If I would start up a second one, I would have trouble going back to the first.

*Exception is a little puzler like Tetris for a quick 5 minute now and then.

Very good system. 👍. Great minds think a like, this is pretty much my go to system right down to putting my main game on hold. How does it work out for you though, some of my main games slip into the back log after making the jump back I just don't seem to be in the mood for it although I do try.

The amount of games though I have going now is insane, discounting the evergreens, there are 7 games on my home screen I'm actively playing and it's actually working out. I might do a Saturday or a Sinday here and there where I pick this kind of gaming and dive into backlog playing as many as I can and see what pops off again. It's actually very doable.

May I suggest the Bullet Heaven/reverse bullet hell Genre. It's absolutely perfect for 10, 15 and 30 minute sessions depending on the game. Brotato is my go to now, probably 20 minute runs or Vampire survivors on hyper mode at 15 minutes but yeah, Terri's is always good. I've had Terri's effect installed since launch and aside from the music, it never gets old.

I focus on one at a time. No matter the genre.

However, depending on my academic period, I tend to play certain genres. During the period of exams, I try to avoid long games with complex stories (such as JRPGs) and stick with more "arcady" games that I can play for short periods of time and don't require too much investment from my mind (like rhythm games, platformers, puzzle games...).

During less busy times, I try to tackle those long games I had to put aside.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check them out.

Always rotating several games (as in, probably around 20+ of them) depending on my mood of that day.
