Controller is stunning. God I hope those triggers are used, they're so cool. Haptics is okay and all but the triggers are next level.

Astro's Playroom and Astro Bot use the Dualsense very well.

Dualsense is by far my favorite controller ever, it makes the Dualshock 4 feel kinda cheap, and that is a great controller too.

Switch Pro is also excellent, battery runs laps around the Dualsense, but there is no match for how good this controller is.

For sure, I fell in love the second it entered my hands, feels just like it was made to fit them. Although the battery playing Astros Playroom got sucked painfully fast.

Oh my God. You can only keep 10 games displayed on the home screen and only look 5 of them to it permanently. That is the biggest failure of this console so far. I'm already getting nostalgic for the PS4.

It's sorted on last used, and games that aren't in the home screen don't get automatically updated. You have to go to game library to check manually for updates which you can only do by starting them so the game is back in the home screen line up.

I guess Sony did it to save bandwidth, not have consoles with hundreds of games installed checking for updates all the time? It sucks anyway.

They could do that if they implemented folders. The games don't even stretch to the edge of the screen. What have they been doing with the OS since launch, I take it the welcome screen is new? I don't recall seeing that when I was researching last year. Maybe there is hope?

It took 3 years before PS4 got folders, PS5 apparently got them this year.

News to me, and they only work in the game library :/ Not the kinda folders we're looking for. And I really just want a long list with folders up front. On PS4 I had a VR folder with all VR games in it, long list, perfect. Media folder with all media related stuff and all non VR games in the long list after the 2 folders, simple.

On PS5 I have to go into the game library and look through there. Might as well make the game library the default view!

Actually I miss the PS3 UI, cross bar interface worked great and would do great with folders, adding more cross tabs. Everything was so organized on PS3. Still go a lot of music on there organized by album in folders under the music cross tab. Lot of videos as well.

Yeah I'm using that, it's useful for organising downloads in queue and sorting which ps4 games have free PS5 upgrades which is a lot.

And oh I agree for sure, nothing beats the cross media bar, they could do that here and make it prettier, why did they fix what isn't broken but still, the ps4s simple design was just enough too. The PS5 feels more like a cheap version of a PC OS on some cheap android ipad. The games should be the focus. Media apps get more love than the games in their tab.

Really rather regressive, I don't know why they feel the need to start from scratch again every time, like, they had the XMB working brilliant inly then bam, back to the dark ages for ps4. They had the PS4 OS finely tuned and them bam back to the stone age.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. I settled on buying Baldurs Gate three and got loads of free games from PS+ and free upgrades.

Baldurs Gate 3

Demon souls

Returnal

Rachet and Clank Rift apart

Dead Space remake

The witcher 3 next gen patch

Cyberpunk ps5 upgrade

God of war Ragnorok upgrade + vallhalla

Uncharted Legacy of thieves collection

Elden Ring upgrade

Animal Well

The Last of us part 1

The plucky squire

Plus many smaller indie titles I pulled over from ps4.

Gaming is GOOD right now, that should take me well into next year alone, the machine basically paid for itself. Can't wait to try Cyberpunk again and actually be able to enjoy it now, same goes for a replay of The Witcher 3 with better graphics

The games I made the decision to not pursue yet but intend to do so, there are so many smaller titles and ps5 only indies I'm coming across aside from these...

Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty

Rise of the Ronin

Black myth Wukong

Unicorn Overlord

Stellar Blade

Astro bot.

Alan Wake 2

Spiderman 2

He'll divers 2 (if it pops off again)

Dragons dogma 2

Armoured core fires of rubicon

Jedi Survivor

I get to platinum The Wotcher 3 again. What a treat.

I'd recomend you to stick with the PS4 version of Elden Ring, because that one runs at a locked 60 fps everywhere. The PS5 version has drops even in the performance mode.
