Is the Walkman popular anymore now that iPods dominate?

they have walkman MP3 players that do pretty well, nothing as good as ipods, but i'm sure Sony makes money off of them.

@TheSource: You are too optimistic I guess. When do you think we will see the price cut?

6,519,989 Wii's were sold from March 31st to July 19th in 2008.

3,233,929 Wii's were sold during the same period in 2009.

Wii is more than 50% DOWN YoY. And it's losing about 150-200k sales each week YoY. How do you think they can still reach those figures?

It's impossible. Wii had it's second worst week of the year last week, just remember that.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

So, where's the updated game release schedule anyways? Wasn't it supposed to be coming out with the report?

^They must be hoping for major boosts with WSR in US and Europe and with MH3 in Japan. Together with monster holidays now that no supply issues and some enticing SW (above mentioned + new Wii Fit and NSMB Wii).

However, I agree with Tres that this is a very optimistic position Nintendo is taking.

Elaine: I will never understand people

Jerry: They're the worst.

Both Sony and Nintendo numbers are horrible. Only 2.23 M Wii HW shipments in Q1, 1.3M for PSP. Forget about reaching the original forecasts, neither company is going to get CLOSE.

Nintendo Shipped 2.23m Wii in this quarter and 5.97m DS.. can anybody post corresponding quarter from last yr's figure??

http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=4584

The figures are listed in the next paragraph I wrote in that article.

          Apr-June 2008    Apr-June 2009

Wii         5.17m                   2.23m

DS         6.94m                    5.97m

I have a Wii price cut in September or October. Brett said in the Wii Sports Resort article that Wii hardware would be up. Say its up 25% in each region as it was in Japan - they'd sell 200k Wiis in Others/Americas, and then the 50k or 60k in Japan from MH3. Let those games carry Wii above 200k a couple weeks, then cut price in September.

Famitsu scans confirmed Samuari Warriors 3 for November in Japan today and FFCC Wii for 2009 in Japan as well. So Wii is going to have a good holiday in Japan, and it won't be supply constrained in the west for December. Those two events alone - better sales in Japan in Aug/Sep/Dec/Jan and in the west for Dec are probably worth 3m. You add in a price drop and you have another 3m from the drop, and the holiday rise gets bigger. They could have a big Q1 2010 planned as well. Its early yet.

Also, the supplementary information document probably won't release until tommorow, along with Iwata's presentation.

Looking at those shipments both x360 and ps3 overtracked on VGC?

You typed PS3 LTD as 23.83m and then 22.83m. Which one is it?!
