There you go again. "Trolling"  blah, blah like people can't have an opinion. Why would I be trolling? Since we're name calling, I bet you're a fanboy, right. Did you see the Xbox conference at the Game awards? Golden, absolutely phenomenal and blew anything Sony put together out of the water in many years. Xbox is doing what Sony done during the PS3 era to get out of the slump and actually incubating talent and innovating while actually risking things. Nintendos over there releasing solid title after solid title and giving their consumers exactly what they want. Sony, nah, here's a handheld that only works near your ps5, here's a remaster of a game that has very little differences in TLOU2 for full price. Consume sheep, consume.

We aren't talking about opinions though you are just flat out lying that's the issue. When I point that out you don't even address it.

Yea I saw the Xbox presentation and I agree it was fantastic. Unfortunately I can't play a showcase and I have no trust in Xbox's ability to actually deliver on their games. The company lies and misleads people constantly but from your post I can see that's right up your ally.

Yes we are talking opinions. Where'd did I lie?

You said there's been no signs of the other studios in 4 years that's a lie.

It's your comment about the games that makes me question the trolling because it's just flat out false and makes no sense. People were saying Insomniac was carrying Sony now Asobi release one game this year and now they are carrying Sony? Did Arrowhead do nothing for Sony releasing the biggest GAAS this year?

"No signs of the other studios in 4 years?"

Like am I supposed to take this comment seriously and just assume you're trolling me or what? Spiderman 2 came out last year.  I'm cool having serious conversations about Sony and the moves they are making but when you just say things that are a lie and you know they are a lie what am I supposed to think?

Mate you can't just propagate lies and not expect being called out.

"No signs of the other studios in 4 years" is a lie, not an opinion. They released a lot of high quality and high selling titles that comfortably exceeded what Microsoft offered from an objective perspective, and this constitues why Xbox is getting destroyed. You are of course allowed to prefer Xbox's content, but a lie is not an opinion.

The only PS5 Sony games I'm interested in are GT7, AstroBot, Demon's Souls (which is a remake/remaster), and maybe Returnal. But this doesn't just delete Spider-Man 2, Ratchet, Helldivers 2, Ragnarok, Horizon 2 etc off existence lol. Naughty Dog and Media Molecule are the two disappointments so far I'll say that much, but the other studios are doing fine regardless of my subjective opinion on ther quality. There ARE signs of them!

I played Horizon 2, Gt7 and Ragnorok and even the launch game Kena Bridge of spirits, on PS4. Take away remasters,n remakes and it looks a lot more barren gor four years than it was in any console Sony has produced this far in. Not lies. Facts.

Oh and I haven't played Xbox since GTA5. I don't prefer Xbox games and never have, nor NIbtendo games, I've always been a soul core PS gamer.

You said there's been no signs of the other studios in 4 years that's a lie.

Naughty dog. Bend. Santamonica (Ragornok was a ps4 game ported to ps5). Gt7 the same and the same for Horizon FW. Spiderman 2 and now Astrobot, Helldivers was a fluke they didn't even count on, that's really a stellar line up. They're really putting the IP to use.

Ok well now I understand a bit better now. You aren't a liar you are just horrible at communicating. You don't say "There's been no signs of the other studios". You say that the other studios have been releasing cross gen ports and you don't count those as games. That's fine and I can understand that to a certain extent. I don't agree because I personally don't care about cross gen games but I know that's a thing to console players. I used to be a PC gamer and we don't have gens, we just have games.

On that note though be prepared to see this as the standard from here on out. The issue is GAAS games i.e. the forever games are making it so that people have no reason to upgrade their console. I suspect from here on out there will be no more gens. Everything will release for PS5 and PS6. I don't see the big deal honestly. PC has been doing this forever and they consider themselves the master race. What does it matter if a game works on older hardware? That's been PC's situation since day 1.

This is a trick question. Sony's image in my perception has been staining for a really long time now, but yes, it's getting even worse, maybe even at an accelerating rate.

Yes. I'm terrible at communicating, I apologise for that. I do try to be better it it but I'm at a bit of a disability in this regard.

If what you say happens, I'm not against it. I would actually love for consoles to take this route and we can see it happening right now. I'd love to see a PS6 which is BC with all previous PS consoles throughsome kind of AI emulation tech, that'd be sick and ai love the fact that XB games are migrating over and I wanna see this happen with Nintendo IP and Sony IP going to the other system too. That's goo for everyone and prevents the hardware market from failing allowing the big three to stay around and continue business. That's not what's staining Sonys brand image in my mind though but I'll not go repeating what I've already said.

Hmm. How so? I thought they were doing excellent from 2008- 2020. Like the best there's been in console gaming. What got you feeling lesser about them and when?

Backwards compatibility is probably the biggest single thing, probably starting with reports that Sony got PS2 backwards compatibility via software working on PS3 near its end of life but never released it. As a single thing, it's not a huge deal, especially since I don't think it was ever properly confirmed. But then PS4 came with zero backwards compatibility, which is worse than the PS3, and old games started getting sold with very minor improvements, and to my undestanding at least in some cases using backwards compatibility (note: I have confirmed this; this is just my last recollection of the matter). PS5 took a step in the right direction, but Sony's stance on backwards compatibility still leaves very much to be desired. PS1 and PS2 backwards compatibility should both be very easy for Sony at this point, as little as they matter anymore... Meanwhile Microsoft, the company I've long disliked, has almost perfect backwards compatibility going back all the way to the original Xbox.

Backwards compatibility is the main thing, but there's other things too. Here's what comes to my mind off the top of my head:

  • paid online multiplayer (I don't care if Microsoft did it first, I still think it's nonsense to have to pay for this)
  • attempts at online passes during the PS3 era
  • poor sales on Store
  • disappointing PS4 price drops
  • PS5 price increases, no (permantent) drops at all (I think)
  • Dualsense price increase while probably being quite profitable for Sony (controllers have always been, as far as I know)
  • mandatory online registration on PS5 'slim'
  • extremely greedy PS5 Pro pricing and the lack of a disc drive

I'm probably missing something, but that should give an idea anyway. Funnily enough, I don't particularly hold it against Sony if they want to do GaaS games. I don't really mind them doing GaaS games, but if that means fewer interesting games, that's obviously a missed advantage, but that's not against Sony per se, it just lessens my interest in Sony's consoles.
