Forums - Gaming - In what ways is the Wii beneficial to the video game industry?

Hey all, as there has been a lot of anti-Wii stuff this week i though it would be a good idea to discuss in what ways is the Wii good for the video game industry.

Is the Wii the future of gaming? Or are Sony and Microsoft bluffing when they say the Wii is benefiting them also?

Fire away.

Cheers.

1. Proving that you don't need to have a $500 piece of hardware to enjoy video games. i.e. reduces the cost for everyone.
2. Taking the next leap in gameplay/controls, as only Nintendo can ever seem to do.

Brings new gamers in, gives small developers easy entrance in the industry, cheaper systems give gamers an option, innovative controller, innovative machine, evolved from last gen, will cause competition to evolve or die.

That's all I can think of.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Heh.... there should be a WDF, only unlike SDF don't make em obvious trolls who actually hate the system and are mocking it.

Anytime you can expand the industry to include consumers who previously were not consumers or former consumers, that's a very, very good thing for the industry as a whole.

It provides many development studios an alternative to the high development costs of the PS3/X360 meaning more studios stay in business instead of closing down. Granted we've had a lot of closures anyway because they gambled on the big budgets.

Brought a new input method into the mainstream in the vein of the analog stick in 1996.
