Mentioning a (perhaps rounded) number in a podcast is now an "official statement"?

If Jim Ryan says PS2 sold 160M then it sold 160M, enough said on the topic. I mean this site a few years ago was off by 8M for Xbone and there wasn't any problem adjusting and believing that.

Jim Ryan said clearly they sold 160 million PS2s. He is CEO of SIE, so yes, it's an official statement during an official podcast :

Sid Shuman: “How would you describe each decade of PlayStation? The 2000s?”

Jim Ryan: “The 2000's? that would be, I would say 160 Million, which is the number of PS2s that we sold. Our high watermark.”

Now I don't care if you believe him or not.

But me, I rely on jim ryan, who has worked at PlayStation since the begining of the brand and has access to sales data unlike the rest of us.
