Crazy how much the PS1 and PS2 sold all that time ago when the market was so much smaller. A combination of those consoles being so good and the competitors being so bad.

Sheesh! Bit harsh on the competition! Besides, the modern day market is bigger -- yes, but it is also competing much more with PCs, tablets, and smartphones.

Sony has taken pretty much the same approach with each console generation, but the PS2 is the generation that approach worked out best for. N64, Gamecube, and Xbox were hardly "bad competitors".

What makes this hard to believe though is that despite it specifying units sold down to a single digit, no one seems to have seen others like this, or traced the source.
