23/04/2008 10:08 Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) Confirms Official Grand Theft Auto® IV bundle Grand Theft Auto® IV to be bundled with 40GB PLAYSTATION®3

April 23rd 2008: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today confirmed the release of an official Grand Theft Auto IV bundle exclusively for PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™).The bundle, available on April 29, 2008, will consist of a PLAYSTATION®3 40GB model, a SIXAXIS™ wireless controller and a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV, the latest title in the genre-defining Grand Theft Auto franchise, all for just €439 (RRP).

"We are delighted to offer the millions of PS3 and GTA fans the ultimate gaming package," said David Reeves, President, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV) is the eleventh, upcoming installment of the best-selling Grand Theft Auto video game franchise.

Obviously, Sony has a surplus of Sixaxis stock. But I don't think that's going to be the problem. This bundle could sell great, or it will sell meh. I mean, we know that Europeans are now willingly accepting the PS3 (not to Wii levels of course). Now, this GTA bundle is not particularly a great deal, but you save like 20 euros right? So basically, it's going to come down to whether people just feel they might as well shell out the extra 40 euro for this bundle, and also decide to actually want to go with the PS3 version as opposed to the 360 version (and from the looks of it, preorders are doing well in Europe, so the ratio could be even). Overall, the PS3 should outsell the 360 in Europe throughout GTA's launch, and the question is how much it can offset the likely large boost for the US 360 numbers.

I really wish that they would put back BC and start putting Dual Shock, headsets and HDMI cables in bundles.

No white PS3, no metal PS3 editions either. If they can do that for the US/Japan, why not here in EU. Sigh.

I really thought about getting the bundle. But I just dont wanna have the damn Six-Axis. I really think this thig just feels plain cheap. Here is hoping that there will be a PS3 bundle for MGS4 with the new Dual-Shock.

So I have no choice but to get the game for my 360.

This bundle alone is going to generate massive amounts of units in Europe.

Nice to see Sony finally stepping there game up, after Microsoft scored with the downloadable content.

Its about freaking time Sony ... at leas the 360 version has no official bundle :P ( still better than nothing :? ) .
