I don’t think name recognition is what’s important for VP, it’s about shoring up a needed demographic or winning an important state.

I don’t recall Pence being a household name before he was picked for VP, he was chosen because he was boring and very religious which made him a strong counterweight to Trump’s various controversies.

Kamala is a black woman from the state of progressives & “coastal elites”, a moderate white guy that can appeal to swing voters in the Rust Belt is the counterweight she needs.

I believe in honest debate and exchange of differing opinions.  IMO, with Biden dropping out today, the DNC in August will be a mess. JMHO.

Why do you believe the DNC will be a mess? What is that opinion based on? Is it just a gut feeling or is there something specific causing it?

In all honesty, this is my gut feeling.

I will say this, I am very please too see that it seem the Democratic Party for once seemed actually prepared for Biden dropping out and very quickly got basically everyone important to endorse Harris leaving no space for any other candidate to challenge her. It not official yet but it does seem like the people who want a open convention have not been given any room for that idea to grow and most likely never will.

A open convention would lead to a civil war in the Democratic Party that they would not recover from in time for the election. The only chance of stopping Trump from being President again is for the Democratic Party to get completely behind Harris.
