Israeli drone attack hits vehicle in southern Lebanon

An Israeli drone fired three missiles at a truck between al-Sawwaneh and Khirbet Selm in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s state news agency NNA.

The agency said Israeli drones were also seen flying at low altitude over the Tyre district, Nabatieh province, the Iqlim al-Tuffah region and parts of Bint Jbeil. Israeli forces reportedly carried out heavy shelling on the outskirts of Alma ash-Shaab, near Tyre.

There has been no immediate comment from the Israeli army.

Tensions along Lebanon’s southern border have continued to mount, with Israel carrying out near-daily air raids on Lebanese territory despite a ceasefire being agreed last year.

French MEP visits West Bank to investigate breaches of international law

Manon Aubry, cochairwoman of The Left group in the European Parliament, is currently in the West Bank to document what she describes as violations of international law.

In a post on X, the French MEP from La France Insoumise party said that while “genocide” continues in Gaza, colonisation is intensifying in the West Bank through “stolen lands, settler violence and a suffocated economy”.

Her trip comes as attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians have surged, reaching a monthly record of 264 incidents in October, the highest since the UN began recording them in 2006.

“Europe must open its eyes and act,” Aubry said.

Rights group warns new settler outpost in Anata, occupied West Bank

Israeli settlers have begun establishing a new outpost on Palestinian land in the town of Anata, east of occupied East Jerusalem, the Bedouin rights group Al-Baidar said.

The group said the settlers started installing temporary structures and laying foundations for makeshift homes. The organisation warned that the move could lead to the displacement of Bedouin communities northeast of Jerusalem and restrict Palestinian access to their lands and pastures, which they rely on for grazing and agriculture.

Since the start of the war in October 2023, the number of outposts established each year has sharply increased, according to settlement watchdog Peace Now. In 2025, at least 68 new outposts have been set up, compared with seven in 2022.

Israeli forces shoot Palestinian man near Jerusalem

A 21-year-old Palestinian man has been shot by Israeli soldiers as he tried to cross the separation barrier near ar-Ram, northeast of Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank, the Wafa news agency reports.

The incident happened in the Dahiyat al-Barid area.

Palestine Red Crescent Society medics treated him at the scene before rushing him to hospital with wounds to his chest and shoulder.

Many Palestinians work in Israel due to a lack of opportunity in the West Bank, but since the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, Israel has issued fewer work permits, forcing some to try to scale the wall.

In June, Shaher Saad, the secretary-general of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions, told Al Jazeera: “Decades of high unemployment have left thousands with no choice” but to take the risk.

At that time, Saad said 35 Palestinians had been killed by Israeli forces while attempting the crossing.

Israeli forces arrest 442 Palestinians in October, including 33 children: Rights groups

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society and the Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association have released these figures in a joint statement.

Rights groups and even the US State Department have accused Israel of frequently making arbitrary detentions of Palestinians, keeping people locked up for years in some cases without trials or charges.

As of April this year, an estimated 10,000 Palestinians were being held in Israeli jails.

Israeli opposition leader calls settler violence against Palestinians a ‘disgrace’

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid has called violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank over the last week a “disgrace”.

“This has been a long period in which the situation has spiralled out of control,” Lapid said in a post on X.

His statement comes amid a spike in attacks against Palestinians, which hit a monthly record in October since records have been kept, according to the United Nations.

Lapid called on the Israeli army to restore order and not turn a “blind eye”. “These criminals must be arrested immediately. There is nothing Jewish and nothing Zionist about this violence,” he said.

Yet it is radical Zionist Settlers supported by a far right Zionist government, backed by Zionist supporters in the USA that cause the violence...

Israeli army announces three-day military drill in occupied West Bank starting Monday

The Israeli army says that starting early tomorrow, it will conduct a military drill for about three days in the occupied West Bank. “As part of the exercise, there will be a high level of movement of security forces and vehicles in the region,” read a statement from the military.

Since the start of the war in Gaza, the Palestinian territory has been witnessing daily deployments of security forces conducting military raids, home demolitions and mass arrests.

Israeli police arrest suspect in assault of Palestinian woman during olive harvest in West Bank

Israeli media reports that Israeli police and domestic security service Shin Bet have arrested a suspect in the assault of a Palestinian woman while she was harvesting olives in the occupied West Bank town of Turmus Aya.

Haaretz reports that the incident was being investigated as a “terror attack” involving assault and bodily harm.

In October, a video filmed by an American activist showed a masked man assaulting the elderly woman, who then collapsed to the ground with her face covered in blood. Witnesses say around 200 armed settlers opened fire on farmers and burned cars as Israeli soldiers looked on.

Israeli prime minister’s office confirms remains of soldier Hadar Goldin identified

The Israeli prime minister’s office confirms that the remains received by Israel from Hamas are those of the Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin following the completion of an identification process.

In a post on X, Shlomo Karhi, Israel’s communication minister, said Goldin’s return was the “closing of the circle”, as he had been captured back in 2014.

Who are the captives whose bodies remain in Gaza?

Since the US-brokered ceasefire in Gaza began on October 10, Hamas has returned the remains of 24 captives held for the past two years.

But the process of returning the bodies of the four remaining captives, as called for under the truce deal, is progressing slowly, with Hamas searching for those left in coordination with the Red Cross under the millions of tonnes of rubble left by Israel’s two-year assault.

The four remaining captives are:

  • Meny Godard, 73
  • Ran Gvili, 24
  • Dror Or, 52
  • Sudthisak Rinthalak

Rinthalak was an agricultural worker from Thailand who had been employed at Kibbutz Be’eri. According to media reports, Rinthalak was divorced and had been working in Israel since 2017. A total of 31 workers from Thailand were taken on October 7, the largest group of foreigners to be held in captivity. Most of them were released in the first and second ceasefires. The Thai Foreign Ministry has said that, in addition to the captives, 46 Thais have been killed during the war.

Israeli army claims it has destroyed four tunnels in Gaza

The Israeli army has said that over the last month, it has destroyed four underground tunnels behind the yellow line where its troops have been operating, in accordance with the phased ceasefire agreement that the US brokered and that saw Israel’s withdrawal from parts of Gaza.

An army statement said the tunnels were destroyed in the eastern Khan Younis area, where Israel has been repeatedly shelling since the ceasefire and where it has been carrying out house demolitions.

Hundreds of tunnels are believed to run beneath Gaza, developed partially by Hamas for military purposes but also previously used to import goods into the besieged territory.

4? What happened to the claim their are more tunnels in Gaza than the London Subway...

Israeli officials and media have claimed the total length of the Hamas tunnel network under the Gaza Strip is estimated to be between
350 and 450 miles. (The total length of the London Underground is 250 miles, which includes all eleven of its lines. This is made up of both sub-surface and deep-tube lines) The Gaza strip is 25 miles long...

They also claimed 80% are still intact.

Former Israeli prosecutor investigated for video leak attempts suicide, says police commissioner

The former Israeli military prosecutor, Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, who resigned and is being investigated for leaking a video appearing to show the abuse of a Palestinian detainee, attempted suicide this morning, Police Commissioner Chief Superintendent Danny Levi says.

Tomer-Yerushalmi leaked the video last year to Israel’s Channel 12, triggering a huge backlash against her after reports emerged that she was responsible.

Netanyahu described it as the most “severe public relations attack” on Israel.

World Bank backs UN plan for Gaza transitional governance body

The World Bank has endorsed a US-drafted United Nations resolution to create a two-year transitional administration in Gaza, Reuters reports.

In correspondence sent Saturday, World Bank President Ajay Banga informed US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz that the proposed “Board of Peace” body would enable the bank’s involvement in rebuilding efforts.

“The proposal to establish an authority … by the UN Security Council with the authorizations set out in the resolution would provide the needed framework for engagement by the Bank,” Banga wrote.

The resolution would give the Board of Peace powers to coordinate rebuilding work and economic revival initiatives.

Cost projections have risen from $50bn in February to a revised $70bn estimate, per the World Bank, UN and European Union.

Senior UNRWA official describes difficulties getting aid into Gaza

A senior UNRWA official has described the difficulties of getting humanitarian supplies into Gaza for the agency, with about 5,000 agency-owned trucks currently blocked from entering the territory.

John Whyte, UNRWA’s senior deputy director for Gaza operations, told Irish news outlet The Journal that Israel is requiring the UN agency to hand over supplies to other relief organisations and remove its branding before permitting entry.

Israel’s parliament banned UNRWA last year, with the law taking effect in January.

“They just won’t let anything that’s owned by UNRWA go in,” Whyte said. “So they’re requiring us to hand our supplies over to other agencies, who then bring them in. But we also have to take the UNRWA logo off everything, which causes us a lot of hassle.”

“All of this is trying to just undermine the humanitarian effort, which has been the case right throughout the war,” Whyte said.

Turkiye seeks safe passage for 200 civilians trapped in Gaza tunnels: Report

Turkiye is working to ensure the safe passage of some 200 civilians trapped in tunnels in Gaza, after having facilitated the return of a deceased Israeli soldier killed there more than a decade ago, an unnamed senior Turkish official has told Reuters.

Hamas earlier said that fighters holed up in the Israeli-held Rafah area will not surrender to Israel, and it urged mediators to find a solution to the crisis that threatens the month-old ceasefire.

Turkiye, the senior official said, “successfully facilitated the return of Hadar Goldin’s remains to Israel after 11 years” after “intensive efforts [reflecting] Hamas’ clear commitment to the ceasefire”.

“At the same time, we are working to ensure the safe passage of some 200 Gazan civilians currently trapped in the tunnels,” the official told Reuters.

In numbers: One month of ceasefire in Gaza

It’s now been one month since the ceasefire came into effect in Gaza. Since the start of the ceasefire:

  • At least 241 Palestinians have been killed and 619 wounded by Israeli attacks that have continued.
  • Hamas has returned all 20 remaining living captives and bodies of 24 of the 28 deceased captives.
  • Israel has released about 2,000 Palestinians, including 250 political prisoners who were serving lengthy or life sentences, and 1,718 Palestinians who were, according to the UN, forcefully disappeared by Israel during the war.
  • Bodies of Palestinians have also been returned, with Israeli authorities handing over 15 for each deceased Israeli returned in recent exchanges. Palestinian officials say they have struggled with identification due to the decomposition of the bodies and the lack of necessary equipment in the enclave.

Palestinians walk past the rubble of destroyed buildings, amid a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, in Jabalia, northern Gaza, on Thursday

Outpacing the ceasefire killings in Lebanon, More than 270 people have been killed and around 850 have been wounded by Israeli military actions since the ceasefire took effect, which came into effect November 27th last year. Almost 2 dozen murdered a month in Lebanon since the ceasefire started, 20 dozen murdered in Gaza since a month of 'ceasefire'.

What’s happening in Gaza right now

As the ceasefire enters a second month, Israeli attacks have continued across Gaza.

  • The Wafa news agency is reporting that the Israeli army is continuing to demolish homes in the Zeitoun neighbourhood.
  • Israeli military vehicles are firing heavily in the east of Gaza City, as various types of drones fly over the western part of the city.
  • Heavy air raids have also been carried out on the northern and eastern areas of Khan Younis.
  • The Israeli army has fired artillery shells at the az-Zanna area in southern Gaza.

Aid flow into Gaza still far below volumes promised under ceasefire agreement

Palestinians were promised that 600 trucks of food, medicine and other essential aid will enter the Strip daily as part of the ceasefire agreement.

We have been monitoring the situation, and the majority of trucks entering are non-essential commercial trucks. According to the UN and the Reuters news agency, only 200 trucks of humanitarian aid have been entering every day.

So what is coming in is much less than what was promised and definitely not enough to meet the huge demand in Gaza. In the north, where many Palestinians are relocating and returning, the UN says no aid has entered directly through crossings for 75 days.

We were in the north yesterday, and people were telling us they go to bed hungry. They cannot afford what is on the market currently. There’s a lack of meat and eggs. Palestinians also have to queue for long hours for water.

People are still looking for and waiting for real change on the ground.

Total of 270 aid and commercial trucks enter Gaza as shortages persist

A total of 270 trucks carrying aid and commercial goods entered Gaza on Sunday through the Kerem Abu Salem (called Kerem Shalom in Israel) crossing and al-Karara (Kissufim, to Israelis) gate, our colleagues on the ground have reported.

The deliveries included 126 aid trucks, 127 carrying commercial goods, 10 fuel trucks and seven transporting cooking gas.

While the volume of aid entering the enclave has increased since the ceasefire came into effect, Palestinians across Gaza continue to face severe shortages of food, clean water, medicine and other essential supplies due to ongoing Israeli restrictions.

Many families remain without proper shelter, with large parts of Gaza reduced to rubble after two years of Israeli bombardment. UNRWA says between 500 and 600 trucks are required each day to meet the population’s most basic needs.

Israel transfers bodies of 15 Palestinian prisoners to hospital in southern Gaza

Israel has handed over the bodies of 15 Palestinian prisoners to authorities in Gaza under the ceasefire agreement. A medical source told the Wafa news agency that the bodies had been brought by Red Cross teams to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.

It is the 12th such transfer of bodies to Gaza under the agreement, bringing the total number of bodies returned to 315, Wafa reported.

Palestinian Health Ministry says only 92 out of 315 bodies handed over by Israel identified

The Palestinian Health Ministry says it has received bodies from Israel of 15 more Palestinians. It says 91 of the 315 bodies released by Israel so far as part of the ceasefire agreement have been identified.

According to the ministry, 38 bodies were transferred and buried today in the Cemetery for the Unknown.

Hospital in Gaza resumes operations after WHO-led rehabilitation

Al-Kheir Hospital in Khan Younis has resumed operations after being forced out of service because of Israeli attacks in February 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) says, adding that it helped rehabilitate the hospital by restoring “water, sanitation, power and structural systems” and by providing essential medical equipment and medicines.

A new 20-bed nutrition stabilisation centre has also been opened, bringing the total number of these centres in Gaza to eight with 90 inpatient beds for the treatment of severe malnutrition.

A stabilisation centre provides care for children suffering from acute malnutrition with medical complications such as infections and dehydration.
