imo, the first resistance was mediocre, but with little to no competition people tend to latch on to whatever they have.
so sales will probably be good. game will likely be mediocre again.

Bolded part that sums up Halo 2 and Halo 3 perfectly. Both were popular and mediocre games that sold heaps.

All three Halo's were decidedly AAA in both sales and quality, as evidenced by gamerankings, metacritic and VGC.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

What's so special about resistance?

I think the first one sold well because

1) It is bundled in many areas
2) Resistance & Ridge Racer the only good game launched with PS3

it will be the game that will make Amercians players buy the PS3 ...

no need to compare to Halo

Time to Work !

Lol No. Resistance will be a good game and a good seller but it is no Halo.

@OP
Sales wise: possibly
quality wise: lets hope not

just kidding

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

Don't troll its bad for your face.

Resistance was released during launch, was one of the only decent titles at launch, had no real competition in its genre until a year later and was heavily bundled.

In comparison Halo 3 was released two years after launch, was already competing with a few other decent games in its genre and was never officially bundled.

Basically Halo 3 sold on hype, massive hype, while resistance sold on a bunch of other factors. For R2 to become Sonys Halo it needs to be able to achieve those sales on hype alone as it will have lost all of those factors (except perhaps bundling in the future), I'll be impressed if it manages it.

I bought a PS3 at (Euro) launch and I am sad to say he's right. Resistance was the only game I played for quite a while (and Starburst) On the other hand it was a good game that really gripped me, Insomniac is an awesome developer and I am pretty sure Resistance2 will be very cool. Not Halo great but still.

Besides having the advantage of being a launch game it also had the disadvantage of being a launch game. I mean come on have you seen the 360 launch games?

 yes

Resistance sold well because it was a quality launch title. Otherwise, it prob. wouldn't have done so well

as i'm accused of trolling

i'd like to explain it in details

In some asia countries, Sony bundled PS3 with 2/3 games at launch (depends on 20GB or 60GB version)

You have to choose 2/3 games from Genji,  Armored Core,  Mobile Suit Gundam, Resistance and Ridge Racer 7

I guess most ppl picked RR7 as their first choice, as it's a well-known title

Then you have to pick 1 or 2 more from the followings

=======================================

Armored Core IGN Score: 5.9

Genji IGN Score: 6

Mobile Suit Gundam: IGN Score: 3.2

Resistance IGN Score: 9.1

=======================================

You dont really have a choice, do you?

(Motorstorm is a launch title too, but i'm not sure can you choose that game or you have to buy it seperately)
