http://www.gamespot.com/news/6189713.html

"When Microsoft announced its multi-million deal with Rockstar for exclusive downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV, many predicted that this would provide a significant incentive for gamers to choose the 360 version of the game over the PlayStation 3 version. But Australian presale figures seem to be telling a different story, with major retailers contacted by GameSpot AU today saying the PS3 version was currently in the lead."

The full article is in the link.

How is this good news? Your thread title is misleading at best, flamebait seems more reasonable, though.

Gametraders is irrelevant in this country, but EB games isn't. It will be interesting to see what happens. I wouldn't recommend anyone picking up the PS3 GTAIV bundle though, it still has no rumble and no BC and is around $210 more expensive than the US equivalent.

The most important retailer to note would probably be JB Hi-Fi, and Game has significant market-share as well. I wonder what their pre-orders are like.

Great news. PS3 reportedly outselling XBox 360 in Australia according to Gametraders as mentioned in your article.
I guess Average Joe cares little for DLC which will be pay a premium for an extra few missions tacked on.

You can get an imported US PS3 40Gb for $400US. Just add on import costs of $50. Remember PS3 is region free.

It's a supplementary article for this thread Good News about GTAIV PS3 Preorders in UK
Though a " for PS3" in the title would have been appropriate.

Gametraders eh? They aren't really what I'd call a significant representation of the market.
Still, it wouldn't surprise me if GTA performed better on the ps3 (seems to be the case with every other multiplat release)

It means little Australia is like 1% of the gaming market if that. Its mostly because sony advertise alot.

Australian's have shit taste in gaming, just look at the top 10 games that sell here every month, its just sad.

Agreed. Actually Australia would be about 0.5% of the  video gaming market. That is why Australian prices are through the roof up to $100US per new game.

Ugh... importing games is one thing.  Importing systems is probably not a good idea.  First off there's the whole issue with voltage/power.  I don't know which standard Australia uses but let's just assume it's the same as the US and it would work fine.

If you bought games they would work but BR discs wouldn't.  BR movies aren't region free so you would have to import from NA regions if you had a US PS3.
