Yeah as great as gyro is I do miss the Wiimote pointer, and I'd love it if they found a way to make that workable in the next system. It worked wonders in games like Metroid Prime 3/Trilogy, Sin & Punishment Star Successor, RE4, etc.

While I wasn't a fan of the game itself for how barebones it was and not being into fighting games, ARMS had an interesting implementation of motion and I'd love to see that kind of thing adapted to like a mech game or something.

Yeah, I found the Wii IR pointer not only worked very well with third person shooters, but it felt scary satisfying.

How could I forget perhaps the most ingenious use of all; Give Me Toilet Paper, a game where you control a toilet roll by putting the Joycon inside a real life toilet roll and rolling it back and forth.
