Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor : Retro/Nintendo conflict

Hey,

So I'm not a big surfergirl reader but I read this on another forum (surfergirl post here: http://softrockhallelujah.blogspot.com/2008/04/loop-loop-loop.html)

Basically it says:

 "Hot rumor...

Apparently the Design Director, Art Director, and Tech Director at Retro Studios were "escorted out the door" on Friday the 18th...

Surfer Girl, have you heard anything about this?"

and

"UPDATE TWO: Something definitely went down at Retro last Friday that made a number of folks not too eager to head back in to the office today. An office that they may not be occupying for much longer."

Anyone wanna speculate on this?

Around the Network

There was a rumor over in the gaming section that 3 Retro employees were escorted out of the building last week.

Hopefully they're just rumors.

cockroaches. The building was infested.

Before Silicon Knights and Nintendo split, there was small rumors to before it was news. I'm afraid it's happening again. Nintendo needs more second party developers to sustain Wii with hardcore games, not less and Retro is important to have with Nintendo.

they mentioned this on IGN's podcast and they haven't heard anything.

Around the Network

Yeah, IGN said that if anything went down, they would have heard about it.

Let's hope that nothing has happened.

Ign would have known. Just a rumor.

Ummm Silicon Knights was a second party... Retro is OWNED by N. They may fire their dev teams, but Retro is not going anywhere.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Bad move for Retro, They may suffer the curse of second parties that leave the big N, look at Rare, Silicon Knights, Factor 5 etc.
