Forums - Nintendo - IGN hints at Kid Icarus developer...

lol, and I the only human being who still has faith in Factor 5?

Welp, put me in your sigs if you want:

Zenfoldor says: "L.A.I.R. was a fluke. Factor 5 is a quality developer, and I feel safe and confident with Icarus in their hands."

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Flight game? I was hoping Kid Icarus would be some kind of God of War like game with action/platforming/puzzle solving and all out epicness.

Well, in this case I'd have much rathered Retro handle Icarus while Factor 5 take a shot at pulling Starfox out of the shitter :/

Ok, so, both devs can pull out some good games... but my money is on Retro (But I want Factor 5)

By me:

Made with Blender + LuxRender
"Since you can´t understand ... there is no point to taking you seriously."

Why are people suggesting that Factor 5 will develop Kid Icarus especially when there is no evidence to support this claim. These guys stated that they wanted to develop games for the PS3 before the launch of the Wii. Why would Nintendo give a project to a company that had no interest in the Wii. They would not. Besides Kid Icarus is not just about flying. He a weapon for ground based fighting, The Sacred Bow of Palutena. Which can be split in to two swords.

"I was well aware that Pit was a popular character in both America and Japan. I tried as best I could to design this version of him in a way that reflected current tastes, so I'm happy to see him so well received.

The creator of Kid Icarus has even jokingly asked if he could make a spin-off using this Pit model." -----Masahiro Sakurai

There is no mention of Factor 5 at all. I wish the Factor 5 rumor would just die. These guys would be more suited for a Pilotwings game or some Sci-fi space shooter.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

First of all, Factor 5 already switched development allegiances after LAIR. We've already known for months that they are making a Wii game, and IGN in their podcast described it as "going to look amazing, and take full advantage of the Wii hardware."

They have also been dropping hints about this for weeks. Kombo posted a rumor that Factor 5 was the ones making it a while ago. Then, when someone asked IGN to put the rumor to rest and say that Factor 5 isn't making it, Matt and Bozon bursted out in hysterical laughter and said they absolutely will not confirm that Factor 5 isn't making Kid Icarus.

Also, here are some quotes from Factor 5 about their Wii game when they announced it:

“We’re going to try and do everything to outdo [all other graphics] on the platform.”

“The pointing [functionality] is probably the biggest innovation we’re working on right now.”

The graphics comment and the way IGN refers to the game are obviously directly related. Add in the pointing functionality comment, and there is plenty of evidence that Factor 5 is making Kid Icarus.

To play the devil's advocate, I do have one source that disagrees. Shikamaru Ninja had this to say about Kid Icarus and Factor 5 on the neogaf forums:

"The Factor 5 game is not Kid Icarus. It will make sense when you see it. Think of previous Factor 5 Rumor / History + Casual + New Publisher ="

This suggests that it's PilotWings that F5 is making. This guy supposedly has a proven track record on Gaf, but I've heard that about a lot of BS rumors that have come out of gaf, and I'm going to believe IGN over them anyday.  Also, this was posted over a month ago, and obviously new information has surfaced.

Personally, I would prefer if F5 left Kid Icarus to someone else and went after PilotWings. They're the only F5 games I ever really enjoyed, aside from the first few Star Wars games they did.

For me, it's damned if they do/damned if they don't when it comes to the gameplay style. I would vastly prefer a mix of ground and air, but F5 doesn't do ground-based gameplay very well. See the last few Star Wars games.

Why does everyone think a third party western developer will be given the oportunity to make a first party game (second party territory)?

It's not exactly a novel idea.
