Switch vs Xbox 360 Sales Comparison in the US - May 2023

This monthly series compares the aligned US sales of the Nintendo Switch and the Xbox 360.

The Xbox 360 launched in the US in November 2005, while the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. Therefore, the holiday periods for the two consoles do not lineup, which is why there are big increases and decreases.

Switch Vs. Xbox 360 US:

Gap change in latest month: 125,040 - Switch

Gap change over last 12 months: 1,773,451- X360

Total Lead: 7,997,408 - Switch

Switch Total Sales: 41,328,755

Xbox 360 Total Sales: 33,331,347

May 2023 is the 75th month that the Nintendo Switch has been available for in the US. During the latest month, the Nintendo Switch has outsold the Xbox 360 by 125,040 units.

In the last 12 months, the Xbox 360 has outsold the Nintendo Switch by 1.77 million units. The Switch is currently ahead of the Xbox 360 by 8.00 million units.

The 75th month for the Nintendo Switch is May 2023 and for the Xbox 360 it is January 2012. The Switch has sold 41.33 million units, while the Xbox 360 sold 33.33 million units during the same timeframe. The Xbox 360 sold current Switch sales in month 96.

The Xbox 360 sold 43.75 million units in the US during its lifetime. The Switch needs to sell another 2.42 million units to outsell the Xbox 360 in the US.

Switch is already passed 360's final big holiday, so from now on it just has to pass 360's post-replacement tail.

This holiday will seal the deal; Mario Bros Wonder will deal the final blow.

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S vs PS4 and Xbox One Sales Comparison - May 2023

This monthly series compares the combined aligned sales of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with the combined aligned sales of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S launched in November 2020, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launched in November 2013. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do lineup.

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S vs PS4 and Xbox One Worldwide:

Gap change in latest month: 410,326 - PS5 & XSX|S

Gap change over last 12 months: 181,447 - PS5 & XSX|S

Total Lead: 906,454 - PS4 & XOne

Total Combined PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Sales: 60,410,326

Total Combined PS4 and Xbox One Sales: 61,316,780

In May 2023, the gap grew in favor of the combined sales of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S when compared to the aligned launch of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the last month by 0.41 million units.

In the last 12 months, the PS6 and Xbox Series X|S has sold 0.18 million units more than the PS4 and Xbox One. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are currently behind by 0.91 million units.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in their first 31 months sold a combined 60.41 million units, while the PS4 and Xbox One have sold a combined 61.32 million units. Month 31 is May 2023 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, while for the PS4 and Xbox One it is May 2016.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have sold a combined 175.00 million units after 114 months. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are 114.59 million units behind lifetime sales of the PS4 and Xbox One.

PS5 vs Wii Sales Comparison - May 2023

This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the PlayStation 5 and Wii.

The PlayStation 5 launched in November 2020, while the Nintendo Wii launched in November 2006. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do lineup.

Wii Total Sales: 49,511,199

May 2023 is the 31st month the PlayStation 5 has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 5 when compared to the aligned launch of the Nintendo Wii by 0.31 million units.

In the last 12 months, the Nintendo Wii has outsold the PlayStation 5 by 4.33 million units. The Nintendo Wii is ahead of the PlayStation 5 by 11.06 million units.

The PlayStation 5 has sold 38.45 million units in 31 months, while the Nintendo Wii sold 49.51 million units. Month 31 for the PlayStation 5 is May 2023 and for the Nintendo Wii it is May 2009.

The Nintendo Wii crossed 50 million in month 32, 60 million in month 38, 70 million in month 43, and 80 million in month 50. The Nintendo Wii sold 101.63 million units lifetime. The PS5 is 63.18 million units behind lifetime Wii sales.

Is there a chart for Switch vs DS in US?  Switch is very clearly about to pass the lifetime sales of both the Wii and the XBox360 in US.
