Forums - Gaming - Ocarina Of Time: the best game ever?

Oh god, I started it. I really regret it now. Sorry people, for I have unleashed something terrible...

Frankly, I think both games have their individual qualities and are two completely different types of games, so comparing them is for stupid fanboys. I enjoyed Final Fantasy 7 more than Ocarina of Time, but I'm a bigger fan of RPGs than Adventure games (although that didn't stop me from liking Tomb Raider or Okami, it's just a matter of taste).
Don't feel too bad as I would have mentioned FFVII if you hadn't. This is a thread asking about the greatest game of all time, of course Final Fantasy VII is going to be mentioned.

Majora's Mask, Ninja Gaiden and Wind Waker are all better than OoT in my opinion. Nothing else is. OoT was perfect back when it released.

No way...

n to all the people saying FF7..

FF6 says HI!

SMG is quite high, so is MGS2....and of course FF10

Final Fantasy VII is the best game of all time. OoT is a great title and deserves the ranking it has, but I don't consider it the best.

Of course average reviews are flawed as the reviews are ranking games based on how good they were for their time. If Oot released today as is, it wouldn't have that score. It also had a lot less people reviewing it back then compared to today.

that might not be fair to the game,as the no of biased reviews have really gone up lately with many sites siding with a particular console. plus your suggestion of a time leap makes no sense, as why would a game be released now with 1997 graphics?what you said is easily applicable to your favorite game too,or anyone elses thus far

"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murders will foam up about their waist and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"...

....and I'll look down and whisper  "no."

Well games today DO have better graphics. And yes if FFVII released today it wouldn't score as high as it did back in the day. OoT has dated dungeon design, camera controls and combat system compared to today, which is more of what I was getting at.

With 3D games, things on the N64 laid down the ground work for what we have today, but what we have today is an obvious improvement over the N64 games in many ways.

I've played and I've beaten Ocarina of Time many times and the most important thing that I realy loved in this game is the grown up system when my friend came to and told me things such " yes now I've become adult " I mean woaw you know it feels like Ocarina has this magic to make players need to share what they did in this game
and my and there's something else The Music Zelda is epic I can't explain more The Zelda Music is just like waow Ta Ta TAA TATA tah ta you GOD SAVE ZELDA.

but to be honest if there's in my heart such a big game than Ocarina of Time is of course A Link To The Past this game is just the game I can't get it of my mind this my virtual girlfriend lol.

FFiv is the best FF game.

And Metal Gear Solid
Indeed, that's a common one in these debates. I'm fully expecting Mario 3, Mario 64, LttP and Super Metroid to be mentioned as well.

I'm only gonna do this once, so... here it goes...

Link's Awakening >
Final Fantasy 6 >
Chrono Trigger >
Final Fantasy 4 >
Link to the Past >
Twilight Princess >
StarCraft >
Portal >
Ocarina of Time
