SpiderMan 2 having a 30 FPS, 40 FPS, and 60 FPS all with RT tells me (prematurely):

a) Mark Cerny's focus on efficiency and removing bottlenecks for the PlayStation 5 is coming to fruition

b) Sony's first party, due to having to optimize for only one platform at launch, will be ahead of the industry when it comes to performance options, at least for their single player, exclusive titles

On another note, that 40FPS mode is calling out to me lol.

It could be Sony's mandate for their studios to have 30, 40 and 60fps modes in their games.

Other Sony games like Miles morales, Ratchet and clank, Forbidden west and Ragnarok had 30, 40 and 60 fps modes too.

It's definitely not a mandate to have a 40fps mode. There are still new first party games without it.

But they're really talking about how it has Ray tracing even at 60 fps, but I would throw out that I think that Spider-Man 1 and MM were patched with a 1080p RT that ran at 60 fps.

Makes sense that Insomniac would continue offering that.

Spider man 2 for PS5 has gone Gold a month before its launch.

2023 so far has been pretty lackluster for Sony 1st party, but they are definitely ending it with a Banger.

Hopefully they have a much better 1st Party output next year.

I dare Sony to make OST's this crazy but also awesome again

Damn, PS5 for august is not effing around. What they sold in the usa alone is more than what XBS sold worldwide.

Sony getting the marketing for EA Sports FC is a smart, albeit natural and expected, move. They're really putting themselves in a place to sell PS5s on a mass scale.

Microsoft likely had to pay quite a significant amount for the Fifa marketing and some exclusive content to entice Europe earlier in the gen.

Yeah I can't disagree with that. But this is essentially a new IP, and getting the marketing will only associate the brand with the console sooner. This will have benefits in years to come.

So what's everyone playing right now?
