‘This is not Constitutional’: Republican legislator

Thomas Massie, who has been leading a legislative effort to curb Trump’s ability to attack Iran without the approval of Congress, says the strikes violate the US Constitution, which gives lawmakers the authority over war decisions.

US legislator says Trump struck Iran without Congress authorisation

Ro Khanna from the Democratic Party says the US Congress must immediately convene to vote on a bill that would affirm the exclusive right of Congress to declare war.

“Trump struck Iran without any authorization of Congress,” he said in a social media post.

“We need to immediately return to DC and vote on Representative Thomas Massie and my War Powers Resolution to prevent America from being dragged into another endless Middle East war.”

Too late, Trump just gave the green light to attack American bases all over the ME...

Now lets see if MAGA/Republican Congress fall in line as per usual.

Prediction: They absolutely will.

Really hope Keir doesn't continue being a pathetic fucking dog to America and finally grows a pair of balls and is clear that the UK stays out of this, I wouldn't even help protect Israel or American assets right now with British military jets, we need to make clear that we had no part in this, if Labour drags us into another bullshit Middle-Eastern war then I'm never voting Labour again. Sorry, the USA should be on their own with this, the innocent lives lost are on Trump, it's not on us to defend America for another bullshit war it created.

My faith is low, the UK is a dog to America no matter who is in charge.

US military now briefing troops that its strike on Iran "will likely result in counterstrikes on US bases and facilities" in the Middle East, and "likely activate Iran and other foreign terrorist organizations cells abroad including the US to conduct strikes against US persons and facilities," according to briefing I obtained

Ken Klippenstein

Any dead American troops are on Trump.

I don't want British troops joining them.

Iranian media: Tehran evacuated three nuclear sites some time ago. - @SkyNewsArabia_B

Iranian media: Enriched uranium stockpiles have been moved from nuclear sites, and in the event of an attack, there will be no radiation - pro-IRGC Sabereen

According to France 24's Tehran correspondent, a political deputy to Iran's state TV chief said the Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan nuclear sites had been evacuated prior to the strikes. He reports that Iran maintains there is no risk of radiation, as high-enriched uranium stockpiles had already been moved.

===

If this is true then it's even more fucking pointless, you're just delaying the inevitable, only now you've guaranteed it happens because Iran has no reason not to seek nukes anymore. What's the plan? Is America going to bomb Iran for the next 100 years? Just keep bombing every new facility? There's no fucking long-term goal except bomb, bomb, bomb.

A news anchor said on Iranian state television, "Mr. Trump, you started it and we will end it." The broadcast showed a large graphic of American bases in the Middle East with the headline, "Within the fire range of Iran." The anchor said the United States had no legitimate place in the region.

U.S. Enters War With Iran, Bombing Key Nuclear Sites: Live Updates - The New York Times

Trump may get American troops killed all just to bomb 3 empty facilities...

Bloomberg: IRAN STATE TV: EVERY AMERICAN CITIZEN OR MILITARY IN THE REGION IS NOW A TARGET

President Donald Trump’s attack on Iran’s nuclear sites is both a stunning demonstration of US military might and unilateral presidential power.

Other presidents chose not to take this step, in the belief that such action could ignite a full-on war with Iran. But the Middle East has changed — Israel has dismantled many of the Iranian proxies that it would have used to fight back.

By attacking Iran’s known nuclear sites, the president has attempted to fully eradicate Tehran’s nuclear program for good.

Theses are the big questions now:

  • How will Iran respond? Does it have the will and the remaining capacity to attack US bases and interests, or even US civilians, in the Middle East or elsewhere?
  • How successful were the strikes — especially those at the subterranean Fordow site? Will the US need to go back with more bombing raids that could make a prolonged war more likely?
  • How will Trump’s gamble play out politically? He ignited a new conflict without seeking approval from Congress, after ignoring US allies or preparing the American people.
  • What will the political impact be in Iran? The attacks are a shattering blow to Iran’s clerical leaders. Could the attacks unleash forces that could trigger a toppling of the revolutionary regime or even a splintering of the country that could send shockwaves throughout the region?

CNN Analysis: US strikes mark a stunning demonstration of military might and presidential power

US Media is already jerking this off and I'm not surprised at all.

Like I predicted, they will fall in line and bang the drums of war if Iran retaliates.

How is this not already war???

It almost feels like he is saying it's only war if Iran fires back, but then I assume the blame will be pinned on Iran, when it would actually be war right now and that's due to America, unless Iran immediately surrenders. You don't just bomb a country and it's somehow not war, what is this then? A Russian American Special Military Operation?
