"Ghost Towns on the Government's Dime: The federal government spent $10 billion on maintaining, leasing, and furnishing almost entirely empty buildings"

I'd like to see more context.

"A Pandemic Plunder: A Florida man stole $8 million in COVID-19 Relief funds to buy an island and more"

This was actually from last year.

"Your Tax Dollars at Play: The Department of the Interior (DOI) spent $12 Million on a Las Vegas Pickleball Complex"

This feels like government waste to me. Maybe there's a good reason for it, but eh.

"Taxpayers Fund a Disinformation Index: The Department of State (DOS) wasted $330,000 to fund censorship of nonliberal and conservative media "

More context needed.

"Snack Attack: The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded a $2 million grant to study kids looking at Facebook ads about food"

Good.

"Direct File Fail: Congress spent $15 million to turn the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) into an unconstitutional force to
prepare, file, and audit your hard-earned money "

Yeah, why do that, when you can instead be part of the multi billion dollar tax revenue business. This is not government waste. It's insane that we have private industries that rake in billions of dollars for doing what the government should already be doing. $15 million is nothing.

"Oh Rats! HHS Spends Nearly Half a Million on a Depressing Study of Lonely, Starved Rats: The Department of Health
and Human Services (HHS) spent $419,470 to determine if lonely rats seek cocaine more than happy rats"

Sounds like an interesting study. I'm glad the government is

"Hold on to Your Steering Wheels: The Department of Energy (DOE) spent $15.5 billion to push Americans toward electric vehicles they don't want "

"Interest-ingly Wasteful: Americans are paying $892 billion in fiscal year 2024 on the interest on Uncle Sam’s Credit Card"

Almost 90% of the "wasteful" spending he's highlighting is on the interest payments.

"Abandon Ship: The Navy Sinks Billions on LCS Vessels: The U.S. Navy is set to waste almost $90 billion on ineffective Navy vessels "

And like another 9% is LCS vessels. Which I know nothing about, but I definitely agree that the military has an insane amount of waste.

This article that I found: LCS If Rand Paul is talking about the same thing, then that $90 billion is over a 22 year program.

The vast majority of the wasteful spending is from stuff that can't exactly be fixed right now.

A lot of this stuff isn't even wasteful in the first place. If anything, Rand Paul has convinced me that the government is far more efficient than I thought.

Here are 3 military programs that should be cancelled, IMO:
1. LCS
2. V-22 Osprey
3. V-280 Valor

During a pandemic they set up more spaces for people to hang out outside.....those monsters.

Did they need to be THAT expensive of a picnic table?

If you show me how much a picnic table usually costs and how much more these cost (each, not for the total project) we can talk about if it was worth it for it to be solar powered and charge your devices.

Similar to every time these dipshits list a study that they think is obvious as waste, things can seem pretty wasteful if you look at them at a surface level without any thought. if we delve into it and it truly is wasteful then I'm happy to say so but I can't just see "picnic tables for 200,000" dollars without any context and know if that's a waste.

...

Can't they charge their devices at their desks, isn't that where they spend most of their time while on the job?

NYPost claims it was for "roughly" 30 tables, so roughly ~$8000 per table.

A waste sure.

Assuming that's accurate then yes I agree. Now I have enough information to say that they probably shouldn't have done that and could have spent less to get something similar.
