"I think people should define the word crap" - Kirby007

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Also why is this still in gaming?

The new edited OP is better than the horrendously biased original.

Still think #3 is silly though. Why shouldn't people be able to criticise the boycott? Especially since one could certainly argue that it's doing the perception of trans people more harm than good.

Why do so many people default to acting like it's 'biased' or 'an echo chamber' or otherwise some sort of 'woke' agenda or 'socialism' any time culture has widely agreed on something being considered unethical?

Like, being bigoted and hiding behind fancy words and sneaky arguments deliberately manufactured to soften the blow and mask the bigotry in the statements is pretty easy to identify and counter if you're paying attention. All the mods here have done is said 'we're not falling for your shit, if you say or do things known to be dog whistles for transphobes, we're going to treat it as the hate speech it is and ban you accordingly'.

Where did I say anything about about a "woke agenda" or "socialism"?  I mean, what the hell are you talking about?  Socialism?  What?  Don't use my post to make a point about something I didn't even talk about.

What the mod in question said was, essentially, "we'll use the rules to protect people who agree with our position," by clearly excluding anyone else.  Fuck that.  That is the path to establishing an echo chamber, whether you like it or not.

This mentality is why I decided to step back from this website in the first place.  This place has always been about exclusion rather than inclusion and favoring one side over another.

What we are trying to achieve is to stop people from being assholes towards each other.

That isn't excluding anyone, that isn't taking your perceived rights away. - We are just putting a stop to people blatantly belittling/attacking/demonizing other people.

You, nor anyone else on this forum has the right to judge and condemn other people in a antipathetic way.

Because it delves into highly toxic rhetoric. For or against.

This forum is a safe space for *everyone*. Trans people included. - That means a degree of professional dignity and respect is required.

Did you miss that he's an alt of a transphobic account which was just banned? Lol.

No, it isn't like that at all, don't be ridiculous Kirby, it's not Mods fault that someone decided to be a disgusting transphobe.

The site is better off without them.

This thread isn't going anywhere with all this drama so I'll just end it here with a final summary.

1. There is not an outright ban on the discussion of Hogwarts Legacy, as I've said, I and the Mod team do not give a single shit who plays it. We also do not condone attacking and/or harassing those for playing it. VGChartz will unlikely ever ban discussion around a single game and does not believe playing a single said game makes you in anyway a bigot.

2. You can discuss the boycott in neutral terms, I.E. You can discuss its effectiveness and/or impact on the developer team or other fairly harmless points of discussion which don't link into mocking others.

3. You can't go into a broad insulting/mocking of those taking part in the boycott due to JK's transphobia which does apply to a lot of these people being mocked. They've very real reasons for being upset and we should be considerate towards that, I'd say this could also apply to mocking those for being upset about situations such as Saudi Arabia's investment into Nintendo.

You don't have to agree with the boycott but be respectful in your commentary and mindful of the reasons why they're upset and/or boycotting.

For example, If you know full well that people are boycotting Hogwarts due to JK's transphobia but still blanket mock them all then yes, I would say that is dismissal over concerns on Transphobia.

4. Bigots have always been banned on VGChartz and that ranges from Racism, Sexism, Transphobia, Homophobia, etc.

5. Not exactly a "hard rule" in the rulebook but we would prefer if the site did less of this cross-site shit flinging at other website, it simply isn't a good look for us.

You can basically sum it up as: Don't be a dick. Don't mock/attack each other. Be considerate of others. Fairly simple.
