1. Does anyone know how it it sold in Europe? Im guessing 500,000-1,000,000 2. GoW is big. It may not sell the best but it is one of Sony's biggest gems. GT is the biggest though and Crash was the biggest till they sold it. Think about it though since the game is so short people rent it. GT can last almost 200 hours if they really wanted to get 100%. If you wanted 100% on GoW thats about 25 hours. Still 2 million is lot for the game. Lets say it took 20 million to make. If they sold 2 million thats atleast $80,000,000. Thats a profit of 60 million. Still thats nothing compared to the best selling game GT which gets Sony roughly $420,000,000 on GT3 alone.

1) The original sold 500,000 copies: judging by the sequel's lessened popularity in the US, I'd guess 200-400k.

2) Yeah, I'm not saying God of War is bad. I know a lot of people like it a lot. I'm just saying that (in terms of popularity and sales) it's just much closer to, say, Onimusha, NFL/NBA street, and movie games like Shrek and Spiderman than it is Final Fantasy, Madden, Medal of Honor, or any other top flight, top selling titles.

You could use the same argument -- renting -- about Madden games, or NFL/NBA street games, and so forth, and yet every single iteration of madden and both NFL and NBA street (one and two) outsold God of War 2 handily. There is really no way to argue that GoW is in the upper echelons of popularity. That shouldn't diminish your own enjoyment of it at all, mind you: I'm not saying that because it's not enormously popular, you shouldn't enjoy it. Heck, I play PC games for crying out loud (I own no systems), and I recognize my personal taste is a distinct niche. It's not a bad thing. Just recognize that it's a niche title at the same time you enjoy it.

Well I made the profit by guess not what it actually is. I guess 20 million overall and im guessing 40 dollars in profit because thwey dont make all the money. They sell the games to stores for around 5 bucks cheaper. Plus they have to pay for shipping in all that good stuff so I reduced it to 40. Its not accurate. It may be way off but im just giving an example. When did MGS:PO come out in Europe? Isnt Europe the most popular place for MGS games?

I'm not trying to be insulting, but it does make you look foolish to post such poor analysis. If you're going to post estimates, you should at least try to research the subject a little. I think you can do a lot better, but you have to put some work into it.

After the Playstation 2 era, Sony has taken a leap from the Drop Zone.
